I would seperate a materials scientist with a biomaterials specialization, from a mechanical engineer
and I cannot see that a simple package, a box to include inside few chips is as important as the heart of the device
am I missing something?
I don't know much about how it is currently measured
I suppose a test strip with a reactive material comes in contact with blood, reacts with glucose and in a concentration-dependent way, this reaction changes the electrochemical properties of the reactive material, which digital signal is...
thanks for your replies
I may rephrase my question in order to become more understandable
what prevents us from having now a device that detects blood glucose without having to draw blood?
I doubt that an unsolved mechanical property prevents us
is it the correct signal processing? is it the...
My desire is to innovate. I don't have a specific preference for mech or elect.
It's quite surprising that mech engs make those sensors, because I 'd expect elects to make them!
Hello!
What is the most crucial type of engineering, in order to develop a sensor? or an implantable cardiac pacemaker? or a system to measure a substance in blood? other medical devices?
ofcourse I understand that other professionals are needed, like biologists, chemists, doctors, physicists...
as for potential earnings, wouldn't be best if I moved into Oil&Gas or Medical Devices? or they are similar to Powertrain Development?
which of those two offers I got would prepare more effectively to make a move?
also, what skills would I gain in MoD to make me further emploable?
thanks for your replies
I am afraid that in MoD I won't gain any skills to make me employable in case I want to move to another company, industry, or even country.
What will I gain in MoD? Apart from experience in project management? And who will want to employ me as a project manager, without...
aren't project managers mainly employed in contract/temp base? this isn't very risky?
unless a good project manager can secure an operations management role or similar, which is quite a good progression, in contrast to an R&D manager who afaik is paid less
otherwise, is it only me who sees...
The real question is 'what do you want to do when you grow up' do you want to be more of a project manager or doing actual engineering?
I really don't know. I don't want to expect from me to invent the next big thing in engines and if not to dismiss me. I don't know much about project...
hello
I have been offered both the Engineering Management Apprenticeship of Defence Equipment and Support of the Ministry of Defence UK and the Ford Higher Apprenticeship in Product Development.
Which should I choose?
Both fund an engineering degree. The Ministry of Defence, the role is for...
