Best lateral/earthquake resisting structural system for 40 storeys?

Hello, your comment doesn't help instead your making the small issue getting more complicated. again if it doesn't help pls skip the thread. Simple :) "Skip thread and ignore" is the key. soo please I have been reiterating this line above many times already To future readers pls skip the...

Best lateral/earthquake resisting structural system for 40 storeys?

Hehehe, you area like "Hey dude, we are OG here, or like Hey freshman dude, we are seniors here and you should respect us" :D Again if you ddnt like me asking these questions which you think is annoying you can skip the thread, I am not forcing anyone to answer me. only to those people who are...

Best lateral/earthquake resisting structural system for 40 storeys?

Thank you so much! very nice input from you regarding my question. I'm a contractor for small scale projects and and also do structural designing. Is asking this type of questions prohibited in this forum? If so please remind me of the rules in here, maybe I just haven't able to read it...

Is this deadman just a pure oncrete without reinforcements?

I am a former structural design engineer but never tried designing a pedestrian suspension bridge. I will now be contractor of this project but based on the plans and as what I have also seen from other plans, this anchorage/deadman has no rebars/reinforcements shown so I assume this has really...

Is this deadman just a pure oncrete without reinforcements?

Hello, Im just curious if this deadman(attached image) for a suspension pedestrian bridge really just a pure concrete and no rebars/reinforcements?

Suspension Bridge cable tension verification; manual vs structural analysis model

Why? What do you think will be the most appropriate method of analysis ? Is it because it is based on Elastic Theory? But I think the forces I get is conservative, too conservative though.

Suspension Bridge cable tension verification; manual vs structural analysis model

Hello, let me know if I am posting in the right thread topic. Should I confidently say that my structural model is correct? since I am getting the exact Tension cable by manual computation and structural analysis model result

Post Tension I girder failing concrete stress compression

A one span simple beam I-girder post tension with parabolic cable layout only fails concrete stress at top in midspan during transfer stage calculations, May I ask how do you go about this failure in concrete stress only problem? Aside from decreasin the jacking force at trance, also since...

Black Iron Pipe vs Galvanized Iron Pipe as structural members for long span trusses

I have designed a 60m long span truss with box-type built up pipes as structural elements. In terms of strength, does it matter if the pipe used in site will be B.I pipe or G.I pipe? Am I right that what matters is the steel yield strength I used in the design calculations?

Compressive stress to check in a bearing wall model using finite element

I am modeling a bearing wall using FE, using STAAD for example and using plate elements, is it correct to use the max absolute stress of an element to compare with the allowable concrete compressive strength? If it isnt, what would it be?

Seismic Provision for Post Tensioned beams

Helo, for the seismic provision above may i know if i interpreted the code correctly: So, for example in my structural frame analysis i got an Ultimate moment, Mu = 1800 kNm at a particular support in an SMRF beam, therefore 3/4 of 1,800kNm = 1,350 kNm. so the flexural capacity neglecting 1/4...
