The 6061 is substantially cheaper (based on info from our purchasing group). No info on 6063 but I was only going by properties. There will be a patch welded on the part in a subsequent process.
My project is to change the material grade from 5052 to a 6xxx series to reduce cost - maybe 6063 T4? What temper is best to start with (raw tube) if I am going to hot form, quench and heat treat?
