    A178 grade D finned tubes

Dear friends As attached you can see the photo which is extracted from our finning procedure. As you see in points 5 & 6 the Hardness difference between base and HAZ is more than 100 HV0.3. All other parameters such as bonding, dimensions ,Pull out, depth of fusion ,... are met. I personally...

    A178 grade D finned tubes

Dear friends Have you got any experience in production of finned tubes with HFRW(high frequency resistance welding)? In our new client spec for production of finned tubes from A178 grade D with A1008cs fin, the hardness difference between weld and HAZ shall be lower than 100vickers. With any...

    forged flat heads

Dear IdanPV, Thanks alot for your answer. PW-17 is just about flat heads with hub flange, so other flat heads are allowed to be produced from forged bar, am I right?

    forged flat heads

Fear friends According to ASME Sec.I PW-17 It is realized that forged flat heads shall be manufactured as forged disc and utilizing forged bar is not allowed. In addition, in code case 2697-1, there are some requirements such as reduction ratio of forged disc. I want to know if using forged...

Crack during cold rolling of thick plate

Dear DrivemeNut crack started from the tapered side of the plate (which was for circumferential welds) and propagated to the rollers direction till complete break happened. Dear Edstainless By the means of machining we can assure about the thickness which will be removed. But with grinding...

Crack during cold rolling of thick plate

During rolling(cold rolling) of a 125 mm thick plate of SA-299 , plate encountered cracking which was started from the surface of the tapered edges. We usually perform beveling and tapering by the means of thermal cutting (before rolling). At the start of the crack , we could find some...

    WPB elbow tensile test

Dear friends we perform a tensile test on a sample from a batch of A234-WPB elbow to ensure that the data in certificate has mentioned right. result for tensile and yield strengh was in the range of ASME SecII tables. But the elongation was 3% lower than the minimum requirements. As you know...

    Plate manufacturing process

Hi Do you know what are the differences in production of EN structural materials such as S355 and ASME SA516 grade 70? If they are both produced in one manufacturer , what additional requirements are met for producing SA 516? According to ASME SecVIII Div1 UCS-23 we are not allowed to use S355...

    WP11 hardness

Dear weldstan I agree with you about the problems of portable hardness testers. But when you don't have MTR or when you don't receive MTR ontime, what do you recommend? In this case we couldn't do destructive tests. So if you just do PMI,how would you assure about the mechanical properties? Thanks

    WP11 hardness

Dear weldstan But as you know according to SA234-wp11 there's limitation on maximum hardness. Maximum hardness is 201 HB. Thnks

Crack in forming of A240-304l dished head

Dear friends As you know minimum tensile of A240-304l is 485Mpa ,its yield is 170Mpa and minimum elongation is 40%. We purchased a plate with the below specifications for dished head and the dished head has 2 weld lines. Tensile:779Mpa Yield: 584Mpa Elongation :46% Our process for production of...

    WP11 hardness

Dear weldstan We are the buyer. But some of my friends believe that by grinding 0.1mm more from the surface would alter the real surface hardness and that may cause failure from the surface(which have the higher hardness) in the future. You were right about the hardness requirements for wp11...

    WP11 hardness

Hi In portable hardness test of a 28 inch WP11 tee we had some problem. As standards mentioned, before testing we should remove all oxides ,paint,..... We prepare surface with a grinder till we visually see bright mirror like surface. The result of hardness test was 215 brinnel. We checked the...
