Dear all
does anyone know how to define gravity load(weight)before a dynamic analysis in shell structures?
i know how to do it for continuum elements but not for shells
regards.
as in the aci-307 4.2.3.2 if shells outside diameter at h/3 is less than 1.6 outside diameter in top we should use one kind of formula,
so if it is not what should we do?
i made the conical shell by rotating a line around z axis, so the point are in their correct position, then i made a join pattern and assigned cone's generator formula to the points. but it is confusing for me when i want to do something about the change of the thickness along z axis, i should...
Dear all
i've made a conical shell in sap2000 and i can't make groups for each level, i select any point or element at each level or both but when i make a group with these it is not useful and i can't use them for section group because there would be no output in these sections?
what should i do?
Dear avscorreia
does it work with shell-layered/nonlinear? because when you want to define an element it is rectangular or circular, so there would be a constant radius over its height. Is it possible to define a cone like thing in sap with this one?
thanks a lot.
could you please using an example in the software world.
for example i've modeled a chimney and run a pushover or dynamic analysis.
how i could verify mine with the others.
thanks a lot.
Dear all
i've been modeled a vertical cylindrical shape in sap2000 by using shell/layered, defined material weights per unit volume, run the simple analysis.
when i checked the outputs i noticed that the Fz in display-show tables which it is the dead load, it's 1/3 of the actual effect with the...
