    Material Equivalency

Does anyone knows where can i get an official copy for the Chinese Standard GB 5310? Does anyone knows where is the official website to buy this and whether the english version of it is available? As far i know this is the standard for those two materials 15CrMoG & 12CrMoVG. Hopefully there is...

    Allowable Stress Table For SA213-T23

Before i even get a copy of the code, do you know if those "assigned allowable stress values" is available / mentioned in the code case (2199-8). Otherwise, i'll be getting nothing out of it...

    Material Equivalency

Great. So how does one to calculate the minimum wall thickness?

    Material Equivalency

Yup i know, so what material is close to represent this in terms of allowable stress?

    Allowable Stress Table For SA213-T23

Dear All Does anyone knows where can i find the allowable stress values for material SA213-T23 in order to calculate the minimum wall thickness. Because i couldn't find it in the Table 1A of ASME Sec II Part D. Regards,

    Material Equivalency

Dear All Does anyone knows what are the ASME Standar Material equivalent to these 2 Chinese standard material 15CrMoG & 12CrMoVG in terms of the allowable stress? Because i need to find the Minimum Wall thickness for these 2 materials. Any reference would be greatly appriciated. Best Regards,

    Thinning Rate

How about using this equation: Thinning Rate (mm/hours) = (Wi-Wf) / (Wi*running hours) Wi = initial thickness Wf = final measured thickness Is anyone familiar with the equation above? Is it correct? Is there any equation from ASME that tells how to find the thinning rate of boiler tubes?

    Thinning Rate

Dear Senior, Does anyone knows what is the "best practice" equation used to calculate Boiler tube thinning rate given that you know it's initial tube thickness, last measured thickness and operating hours? in order to predict whether in the next overhaul we should replace the tube or not.. NB...

Questions regarding table 1A ASME Sec II part D

    1) Thank you TomBarsh. 3) In the table 1A, the allowable stress value numbers is it just a rounding off? If it is how can you find the precise numbers? See the following thread to know what i mean: http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=394907

Questions regarding table 1A ASME Sec II part D

    1) For notes a the end of table 1A is for codes in the notes column of the table. I didn't find any explanation for what is A03, A02 and 01. 3) i mean how did the guys at asme determines the allowable stress value in the table? based on formula or graphics perhaps?

Questions regarding table 1A ASME Sec II part D

Dear members of Eng-tips I have 4 questions regarding table 1A ASME Sec II part D: 1) What is the meaning of the characters positioned in the sides of the table (A02, A03, 01 etc)? 2) Why is for some materials at certain temperature the allowable stress is not stated and only "..." appears on...

Figuring out allowable strength reference (boiler pipe)

Perhaps, but How to confirm that the allowable stress is taken from a previous edition of Section II Part D? I have the 2007 version, the allowable stress is stated in Ksi with only two digits behind the decimal. But in the list of allowable stress i got from my senior it has 5 numbers behind...

Figuring out allowable strength reference (boiler pipe)

Dear all, I got to data from some old senior about boiler pipes data and used to calculate the minimum thickness, Data Pipe No. 1 Pipe : Eco tube Material : SA-210 C OD Design: 2.01 inch Thickness Design : 0.24 inch Temperature Design: 617 Farenheit Pressure Design : 2894.96 Psi ALLOWABLE...

    Bearing Overheating

Can you explain what do you mean by 100% coverage? How is the procedure to grease a bearing from a grease nipple so that is has 100% coverage?

    Bearing Overheating

We had a case in our plant, it was after regreasing of the bearing (roller bearing), when the equipment (crusher) started running, the bearing temperature (bearing #4) increases to 90 degrees celcius. I causes panic to the operation staff. We held a meeting trying to find the cause of the...

    Bearing Overheating

Dear All, I'm doing an FMEA for Bearing that uses grease as the main lubrication. I've identified several failure causes for bearing overheating (above 90 degrees Celsius): 1) Overgreasing 2) Undergreasing 3) Loose Fits 4) Loss of Lubrication (leakage) 5) Wrong Type of grease used 6)...
