Remote Area with OH & LH sprinklers

Thank you, NewtonFP. The 11.1.2 section was what I was looking for. Even though the wall is not rated, it prevents heat from the OH area from fusing the heads in the corridor. Micah Davis Dynamic Fire Designs www.dynamicfiredesigns.com

Remote Area with OH & LH sprinklers

I have a mixed use Retail/Residential building protected per NFPA 13. I am calcing the retail area at 0.20 gpm. The space is not large enough to get the full 1500 sq ft so I have a few heads in the adjacent corridor in the calcs to make up the difference. I have attached a screenshot for...

    Interconnection of standpipes

I did overlook note 7 under 7.2.4. It appears your interconnection concern is addressed as the code specifically allows the installation you describe. Reading the applicable codes in light of 7.2.4 (7) and looking again at 7.5, it appears the code is requiring that the FDC provided for the...

    Interconnection of standpipes

bmlxd40 At first I though I agreed with your concern, but the more I thought about it I'm not so sure. I assume you have an FDC on your high pressure standpipe per NFPA 14-7.12. If so, why would a second one down stream of the PRV"s be required? I see nothing in the standard that prevents...

    Modifying windbracing

Good deal. That is what I was hoping to hear. I will start pursuing this with the owner and engineer and/or joist manufacturer. A much easier solution I believe than relocating the sprinkler branch lines. Thank you very much!!

    Modifying windbracing

Thank you for the suggestions, EngineeringEric! I will track down the joist manufacturer and begin a discussion with them as well. We worked directly with the owner on this one. I have made it clear that this was our mistake and we will do whatever it takes to resolve it!

    Modifying windbracing

mike20193 I would have to dig deeper to find out if we are in a high wind area. The snapshot of the of the framing plan below shows a note about the joist wind uplift if that clarifies anything. KootK I've attached an overlay of the structure and my sprinkler piping at one of the problem...

    Modifying windbracing

I do not have a picture, but I looked again at the structural framing plans and it is indeed called out as bridging. The plan specifically says, "3 rows of continuous joist bridging typ w/ diagonal x-bridging where shown."

    Modifying windbracing

Hello All, I am a fire sprinkler designer and have a question about the ±1" windbracing welded to the bottom cord of the bar joists on a project we have recently completed. Due to an oversight on my part during the construction phase, we have installed some of our sprinklers directly above...
