    RPad

Hi All, I would like to know if there is a rule of thumb when there is a need to start using reinforcing pad for certain sizes of reducing tee (weld type). Thank you. Regards, marchieV

    RPAd Dimensions

Hi LittleInch, Thanks for the response. I'm just wondering about the basis of the formula.

    RPAd Dimensions

Hi All, I'd like to know if there is a documented code, standard, or reference that I can use as a basis for the following formula that I found on the internet for calculating the dimensions of the reinforcing pad: 𝐿1=d+10𝑚𝑚 𝐿2=2d 𝑤=(𝐿2−𝐿1)/2 𝐶1= 𝐷_ℎ sin^(−1)⁡(d/𝐷 )(𝜋/180)+10𝑚𝑚 𝐶2=𝐶1+2𝑤 See...

    Cap Screw

Hi TugboatEng, Thank you for or insight. Do you know what the recommended gap between the ends of the two screws is? or a reference that specifies a recommended gap?

    Cap Screw

Hello, everyone. I'd like to ask a question about the cap screw that will be utilized on both faces of a lug type butterfly valve. How can I calculate the length of the cap screw? Do I need to provide a space between the two (2) cap screws on both sides of the butterfly valve? Do we have any...

    Anchor Thrust for Underground

Littleinch, Why I need to remove the anchor? Eventhough the design has thrust anchor?

    Thrust Anchor

Do we need to input manually the Full Thrust Anchor for underground Piping as "Restraint: Anchor" (after converting original CAESAR II file into a buried file)? Regards, Marchie

    ASME B31.8

Most of the cases with zero allowable are Operating Conditions (OPE+Win/Occ etc). I read other forum/thread, it seems its not a wrong input and not new situation. I don't know what should I do.

    ASME B31.8

Please see attachment for the code stress report. You will see that most of the OPE cases has zero allowable stress. Is it possible that if the system I am analyzing do not involve a very long pipeline, we can use ASME B31.3 instead of ASME B31.8? From scapper laucher until the underground...

    ASME B31.8

I am analyzing a pipeline using ASME B31.8 of CAESAR II ver. 7 but I notice that some allowable are zero in the Output Report. How is that happened? I know about the par. 833.1 for the Restrained and Unrestrained but is that possible that the allowable will be zero?

Wind Load for ASME B31 8

There are some parts that are buried and some are abovegroud and it is connected to scraper laucher and receiver. In the flexibility analysis specification of the client, it states that only pipe 10meyer above the ground is considered for wind load. Does it mean that the wind load consideration...

Wind Load for ASME B31 8

Hello. I just want to ask regarding the wind load for pipeline under ASME B31.8. Do we need to consider or subject the Stress Analysis of pipeline for Wind Load? It was not stated in the code if the wind should be considered. What is the reason? Thank you Regards, Marchie

    Reciprocating Compressor

Hello. Can I use the Modal Analysis Type under Dynamic Analysis of CAESAR II Program in checking the natural frequency of piping requirements of 4Hz connected in a reciprocating compressor? Thank you. Regards, March

    Flange Leak Analysis

Do you usually consider the design temperature in the flange leak analysis using Pressure Equivalent? Or only operating temperature? Regards, Marco

    PSV Closed Discharge

Actually it is a revamp pipeline and in the existing condition the line has spring support on both upstream and downstream of the PSV. I was wondering if in the previous analysis they considered the reaction force because how did they pass the stress analysis without using guide or clamp on the...

    PSV Closed Discharge

Thank you for sharing. I read that also and they do not directly tell that it is not considered. Maybe because it is very rigorous to perform and I read also from other references that in order to get an accurate reaction force time-history is required. It was also mentioned in ASME B31.1...

    PSV Closed Discharge

Where do we impose the reaction force? How do we compute the reaction force since it has a leg or several elbows and the orientation at the discharge is different from the open discharge?
