Qualification test for ultrasonic testing operator

Best practice we have used is to get Radiographic Testing of same Pipe and get the films interpret now let your UT personnel test the same pipe and ask them to interpret their result and make a report. Now you can compare RT Films with UT Test Report.

Heat Treatment Requirement after Cold Bending

Can you please look in to the matter again. As our client is still asking for Heat Treatment. He says "Stress Relieving is required due to short radius of bends. As per ASME Sec I (PG-19) H.T is required after cold forming if the %strain is more than 20 %" The radius Coil's U-Bend is 42mm...

Stress Relieving and Radiographic Testing Requirement on Boiler and Pressure Vessel

Ok if I say. A WHRB boiler having capacity of 1000 kg/hr steam operating pressure is 10 bar manufactured on ASME Sec 1 Material is SA516 Gr70 for the shell and tube sheets. Smoke tubes are SA 106 Gr B

Stress Relieving and Radiographic Testing Requirement on Boiler and Pressure Vessel

My Questions are: 1) Is stress relieving "necessary" on Boilers and Pressure vessels between thickness (10-20 mm) for Operating Pressure of 10 Bars under new ASME Code? 2) Is Radiography required for above said thicknesses if weld efficiency is reduced to 90% ? Thanks!

Heat Treatment Requirement after Cold Bending

Thank you for your reply. (c) Cold bending and forming of carbon steel having a wall thickness of three-fourths of an inch and heavier, and all ferritic-alloy pipe in nominal pipe sizes of 4 inches and larger, or one-half-inch wall thickness or heavier, will require a stress-relieving...

    RT inside boiler

Well there is no such restrictions in ASME Sec I. When you really have to carryout RT of your job. You will have to get access from both sides. Inside and Outside for Film setting and for Source Setting.
