I'm use software SAP2000 with 3D solid modelling, well the concept is similar like ansys and abaqus, they have output S11 S22 and S33..
I only get the stress, so can I use the stress to calculate moment and shear force?
Hi everyone.
I try to make finite element model and have run analysis.
So we have the result S11 S22 and S33.
How we can calculate moment and shear from this fem? Any ideas or formulas here?
Hi, we are working on same project about solid here, (LOL)
Unfortunately, solid can't apply loads uniformly distributed.
But you can make it equivalent.
Try to make it become point load for every length. But do it with more mesh, more mesh and more point load you make it will more equivalent...
You can use conncetivity data table for the length of your element.
I forget the table for the thickness, try to see from property definition table, i think is it.
if you using automatic area mesh option, yes it will make more time to take an analysis consider how much your element. First of it, is your PC/laptop have recommended system requirement? Bigger RAM plus best graphic video card will make your analysis faster.
Second, if you sure you doesn't have...
Thats why I'm in the stuck on my research,
As you say we can obtain integrated shears and moments by using section cuts. Do you know what section cuts that I have to use?
What is mean S11 S22 S33 anyway?
If I want to obtain the moment, is the formula --> Stress=(M.y/I)<----- am I can use this...
Hi everyone, I build a abutment and bridge pillar with 3d solid modelling in SAP2000. My problem is, How can I calculate reinforcement from a solid model? what stresses do i need to see and what all equations do i need to apply to get main reinforcement? Please, it's really make me stuck knowing...
