    Minimal loading to a WWTP

Hi everybody! I am designing a 1000 PE WWTP for a Sea Resort. I assumed extended aeration process and volumetric loading of 0.25 kgBOD/m3.d and got the needed volume of aeration basin of 240 m3. My question is: What is the minimal volumetric loading or F/M ratio necessary for the process to...

    Neutralisation

@bimr What additional information do you need? Concerning the fact that I don't have experience with start-ups of neutralisation plants, I wanted to make sure that my plan is OK. Maybe I am not aware of some potential problems. I will have only two days to do the start-up and to give...

    Neutralisation

Hi MortenA! I forgot to mention that we use 10% HCl and 1% NaOH, so there is no problem with viscosity.

    Neutralisation

Hi everybody! I have a task to start a trial period for an industrial WWTP. It is rather simple, rotary drum sieve, equalisation tank with a neutralisation equipment (HCl and CO2 as acid, and NaOH as a base) and that's it. The desired level of pH is 6-9. And the plant is automatic Concerning...

    Taking samples from old wells

Thank you for a great advice! The only issue is that we have no field engineer on the location and it is very far from our headquarters, but maybe we could hire somebody...

    Taking samples from old wells

Hi everybody. Water quality sampling is to be done for 7 wells. The problem is that these wells are currently out of service and they have been out of service for almost a year, but the authorities want to put them back to work and they need to check for the quality of the water. The question...

Removal of H2S (hydrogen-sulfide) from water

Bimr, If I understood it correctly the purpose of a break-pressure chamber is to reduce the pressure in a pipeline to atmospheric, i.e. hydrostatic pressure. I am not quite sure if this is the correct answer. The chamber is on a hill, quite remote, and there is no danger of exposure. Someone...

Removal of H2S (hydrogen-sulfide) from water

Hi everybody, I have to ask for help, once again. I have to design a process for H2S removal in a break-pressure chamber that is part of a water supply system. I've attached a cross-section of a chamber, with all the pipelines, for you to get a picture of it. The problem is: the only thing I...

    Deammonification

I couldn't agree more! Thank you

    Deammonification

I already find those, but thank you anyway! I was wandering if there are some new papers with more detailed recommendations and calculations.

    Deammonification

I recently found out about this relatively new process for nitrogen removal - Deammonification and I got really interested. There are lots of papers about the process over the internet, but I couldn't find any information about the design parameters and recommendations, calculations for reactor...

    water and waste water treatment

It depends on what process you are interested in. There are lots of good videos (lectures and animations) that explain basics of wastewater treatment on Youtube.

    pH control-neutralization calculation

I don't have the analysis. There is nothing to be analysed yet, because the factory is not yet built. Are there some guidelines that can help with the dimensioning of the equipment?

    pH control-neutralization calculation

Hi everybody! I am looking for an answer on how to determine the amount of chemical (HCl, NaOH) needed for bringing the pH in the 6.5-9.5 value? So, to simplify the question, here is the example: I have a wastewater with a pH=11 (30 m3 batch). How much HCl (30%) do I need to add to the...

    flow makers in oxidation ditch

I am going for BNR and simultaneous aerobic sludge stabilisation, so SRT is 25 days. I've come across some really great diagrams from one manufacturer of mixers and flowmakers, so basically I have found what I was looking for. Found out that the data my senior colleague gave me is valid only for...

    flow makers in oxidation ditch

Hi, its me again! :) I have a question regarding the design of flow makers in oxidation ditch. I have an oxi ditch, 5,5 m deep, 2300 m3 volume, with disc air diffusers and flow makers, but I am not sure how to pick the right flow maker. I guess the easiest way is to ask the manufacturer to...

    Clarification for sludge transport

Thank you all for the answers, I get it now! So, for example, if I have a RAS rate 100%, my RAS pump has to be connected (on-line) to the flow meter at the WWTP inlet and than it regulates its flow according to the current inflow of wastewater? Am I right? It should work on a continuous basis...

    Clarification for sludge transport

Hi everybody. This question might seem stupid, but I just can't figure it out. I am participating in a design of a municipal WWTP. We have two secondary clarifiers and one sludge pumping station with submersible pumps, for the sludge from the clarifiers. The sludge flows by hydrostatic pressure...

designing WWTP for tourists place - different loads

Yes, but MLSS of 4000 mg/l is typical for extended aeration process, and I am assuming SRT=3 days, in order to avoid nitrification. That is why I am asking if it is possible to run MLSS of 2500 mg/l with SRT=3 days.

designing WWTP for tourists place - different loads

@Ashtree thank you for the details on equalisation tank. Another question: is it possible to maintain MLSS of 2500 g/m3, when SRT is 3 days? I guess it is not possible. But if I assume lower MLSS for my system (perhaps 1000-1200 g/m3), I need 2 times larger aeration tank.
