    Shaft with a estable base

MacGyverS2000, will it be something like the attached file? Can you explain me better how this wil ensure that the base will be estable during the movement? Jboggs, how can I apply the four-bar linkage? Because my system only have a single fixation point, and the four bar linkage have 2...

    Shaft with a estable base

Hello there! My name is Gustavo and I'm from Brazil, I'm currently working on a steelmill and here I do some projects. Now I'm working on a project where one solution for the problem is to use some kind of inverted pendulum where the base at the top system needs to be estable during the...

FATEK PLC to communicate with RS232 Bar Code Reader

Hello there! I'm an Electrical Engineer and I want to do an application using a PLC from FATEK. What I want is to communicate my PLC with a Bar Code Reader using the RS232 port. I want it to read the code and my PLC have to store it to be used elsewhere. Is there anyone with practice with this...

    Overhead Crane Safety Rods

Hello there! I'm an engineer working at a steel mill, here in Brazil. What we want to do is to design a safety rod to guide overhead loads, so that we don't need to use our hand to move it. We currently desingned the rods attached, but what I'm concerned is when they need to get up to the pile...

Modificate my gearbox's motor to have a brake

No. It was to expensive and demand more work. A motor brake is the best solution in my case.

Modificate my gearbox's motor to have a brake

Hello there! My name is Gustavo and I'm from Brazil. Currently working on a steelmill plant. Now I'm with a project where I'm using a gearbox. The problem is that I realized that the motor of the gearbox needs to be a motor with brake. I don't want to spend a lot of money buying gearbox with...

Installing Load Cell at the top of a Moving Platform

btrueblood, thanks for the advice. Indeed I think that I can use only two load cells. I didn't understood what you've meaned by measuring the cylinder pressure. What I'm going to measure is the weight above the platforms (as ilustraded on the picture attached), and not the pressure of the...

Installing Load Cell at the top of a Moving Platform

Hello there! I'm an Electrical Engineer here in Brazil, and I'm currently working at a steelmill plant. I'm working on a project where I want to measure the weight of a load. Currently we have a kind of car that is moved by a pneumatic cylinder. This car go forward and backward constantly. What...

    Gearbox Backlash

CouplingGuru: indeed if I'll change the diameter of the chain, I'll have to buy a new gear, that will cost around R$400,00. But the couple will cost me around R$ 200,00. To prevent the gearbox to turn to the otherside, as said before, I'm thinking to use a fall arrester attached to the steel...

    Gearbox Backlash

CouplingGuru The ratio of reduction is 1:56,89 and the gearbox shaft diameter is 25mm.

    Gearbox Backlash

CouplingGuru, my idea is to couple it directly to the shaft in order to avoid the use of the chain. The rotation force will be delivered directly by the gearbox so, with I'm running below the nominal current, the gearbox will not break their mechanism, because they are rated to work with this...

    Gearbox Backlash

The problem is that the chain that I was using broken during the operation. It lasted about a month, but just recently broken. That's why I want to copule the gearbox direcly to the shaft. The chain that I was using is a 10B-1, where the force of rupture is about 2,240 kg.

    Annealing Furnace

Hello there! My name is Gustavo, and I'm from Brazil, where I'm working as an Industrial Engineer in a steelmill plant. Here we are starting to run a new process, the annealing furnace, where we use (obviously) a furnance to change the material composition of the steel. The problem that we're...

    Gearbox Backlash

it's the motor with a picture of the plate attached.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=ef495fc1-1900-4f0e-9445-e0fd24a1af69&file=IMG_3564.JPG

    Gearbox Backlash

BrianE22, it's helicoidal gear. John2025, the motor is without brake indeed, but want to solve the problem without having to buy a new one. The bundle, when compressed by the gearbox, have a kind of spring effect that makes it expand, and that's what makes the gearbox rotate a little.

    Gearbox Backlash

Hello there! I'm an electrical Engineer working as Industrial Engineer here in Brazil. I'm working on a steelmill industry, and I've being making some improvements on the process. The newest one was the implementation of a safer device to reduce the diameter of a bundle of bended wire. To do...

Locking the movement on an electrical motor

BrianE22, no. The load is not lifted, it's dragged. The wire rope that drags the load gets stretched out and when the operator stop to press the button, the wire rope pulls the shaft where the gearbox is connected. jraef, the spin that the gearbox do is kind of a lot. Don't know if a backlash...

Locking the movement on an electrical motor

Just to be clear, the system is not a worm gear. Is just a gearmotor with a chain connecting the gearmotor's gear to the shaft gear.

Locking the movement on an electrical motor

It can decelerate. What is happening is that the system, when the operator stop pressing the button, run a little to the contrary. This is caused by the inertia of the system and the load. What I want to avoid is just that. With a brake, when the operator stop pressing the button, the system...

Locking the movement on an electrical motor

jraef, how can I know the starts/hour of my motor? And thanks for the grammar point you've made. 3DDaves the system is new. All components that was installed are new. I don't think that there's an worn on the gearbox. You said to install a clutch between the motor and the shaft, but I'm using a...
