Vertical Fire Water Storage Tank vs Fuel Oil Storage Tank

Hi gent! Thanks for the help. Called up a local supplier and he was able to answer some of the questions, in addition to the what you all said. The type of seal is different. Also mentioned that optional certification are different for the tanks.

Passive House - Apartment Building HVAC System

@EnergyProfessional : Climate (-22degF to 94degF) Geothermal is a good idea. Location is within city limited space for wells. The other suggestions are great. @DrRTU : Never thought of it like that good idea thanks, and would love to attend the event but Chicago is quiet far. @willard3 ...

Passive House - Apartment Building HVAC System

Would anyone happen to know what type of mechanical HVAC systems would be found in an apartment building required to meet passive housing standards? There is a lot of information on small size single residential passive house but not so much on medium and larger buildings. Thanks for the help.

    Flow rate for AHU

I am assuming its a standard operations building with a few office and some CPU rooms. The building height should be 3m to 4m. I was looking at the following website: http://www.contractingbusiness.com/service/use-air-changes-calculation-determine-room-cfm So my issue is that using the above...

    Flow rate for AHU

No engineer is using rule of thumb for 100% design that's pretty obvious! Good experienced engineers will have feel and estimation techniques for all these, it's very important before design for decision making. 400cfm/RT is standard in my area according to a local supplier as well! I've...

    Flow rate for AHU

A variable like air changes per hour would already has variables like building use, occupant type, occupant density, mechanical, electrical equipment etc. built into it. It seems like a good variable to use to find the fan capacity. Temperature conditions and things like that would be major...

    Flow rate for AHU

I am asking because I'd like to able to understand how to workout these things. I've noticed from previous projects that AHUs are sized anywhere between (1.5L/s)/m^2 to (2L/s)/m^2 for typical buildings. When I use the suggested air change volumes. The number seems too high. Choose the air...

    Flow rate for AHU

Hi does anyone know how to go about calculating the flow rate for a 1500m2 single storey building with 10 to 14 air change per hour? What are the standard guidelines for selecting the size of an AHU fan?

Plumbing and drainage (why aren't vents shown on drawings)

Thanks for the response, I guess its just the drawings I am receiving from the engineers don't have SAN vents developed. It's strange even @ 99% submissions don't show them. :l

Plumbing and drainage (why aren't vents shown on drawings)

I rarely see sanitary vents drawn on plumbing and drainage drawings. I also rarely see any notes regarding vents. Unless otherwise stated is the contractor responsible for providing this without any change order? Any reasons why mechanical engineers do not draw this very often?
