While testing the PSVs, we are following the set pressure tolerance based on below ((ASME Section 8, UG-134 D (1))
The set pressure tolerance for pressure relief valves shall not exceed ±2 psi (15 kPa) for pressures up to and including 70 psi (500 kPa) and ±3% for pressures above 70 psi...
Do we need to investigate the root cause of as received pop test failure if the PSV premature opening. Investigation report need to be shared with operation, Process engineering & TSD etc... During the internal audit, auditors may ask, whether we have conducted any investigation for such failures.
Dear Sir, when we conduct shop inspection, If any PSVs failed in the initial inspection (if it opens before the set pressure or failed in the leak test) , do we need to conduct investigation. Is it mentioned anywhere in API standards? If the PSV is stuck or not opening 150% above set pressure...

Is it mentioned anywhere in the International Standards (ASME/API) that, don't use Grease or Molykote on PSV Internals and threads. If yes, can you pls share the same
I have read on safety bulletins that special lubricants, which are exclusively made of Oxygen service can be used...
If the back pressure is more than 10% of set pressure, bellows design psv need to be used(instead of conventional design), such statement is available in any API or ASME standard? Can i have the paragraph reference.

We have one ASME Section 1 Safety valve from Fukui Manufacturer, set pressure is 45 kg/cm2g. We are testing this PSV in Air test stand. Do we need to apply temperature correction factor for this valve to get the CDTP. Operating temperature is 370 °C.
Valve Model: SL431-C2-M2(T)

Thanks MJCronin. Yes, you are right.. I am referring 1997 PSV data sheet. Finally i came to know that there is a typo error in the PSV data sheet. Based on the spring part number, we confirmed that spring material was "Alloy Steel". However in the data sheet, it was mentioned that it was...
thanks for your feedback. i will explain you our concern..
Now Process Engineer is filling the PSV Authorization form and test media need to be filled in the form. Based on the test media mentioned on this form, work shop personnel will decide, psv need to be tested in which test...
Dears,
While selecting the psv test media, we need to consider the normal operating condition or relieving condition scenario. My understanding is we need to consider relieving condition. can we have your advice please. Is it mentioned in any international standard
Thanks

Anyone can share me, in which paragraph states that, do not install Isolation valve on Section 1 Safety valves inlet, which is installed on Boiler / Furnace.

thread1203-479776
Refer to above thread1203-479776, Common reasons for Bellows failure , don1980 (Chemical) mentioned that " When the PSV goes though a single opening/closing cycle, the bellows may experience hundreds of compression cycles. So the key to preventing bellows failure is to prevent...
Thanks for your feedback. It is mentioned in the procedure that we need to conduct the initial test "as received condition". However, practically it is not possible. As soon as we received the PSV in our shop, first job is clean the inlet/outlet area & clean psv external body. After...
