SAP2000 gives two different interaction surfaces for a member cross-section. First one says, i) Caltrans interaction surface and second one is ii) interaction surface (which is based on design codes). Why are they significantly different ? I have attached a sample plots for review.

Dear @le99,
Both i) Caltrans interaction surface ii) interaction surface (which is based on design codes)are biaxial P-M diagram. I have attached the SAP2000 diagrams.

Thank you @le99 for Answering.
This question is based on a confusion in SAP2000. SAP2000 (in section designer) gives two type of PM interaction plots i) Caltrans interaction surface ii) interaction surface (which is based on design codes). These two plots are greatly different.
What could be...
I am looking for P-wave and S-wave velocity profiles (Vs30) for different sites covered by Engineering Geological Database for TSMIP (EGDT) for Taiwan. The database provides the soil profile in graphical format and is difficult to extract.
Does anybody got some idea regarding the data? kindly...
I am looking for P-wave velocity (Vp) of all the recording sites of PEER NGA West 2 Database. Flatfile of the database only mentions Vs30 and not Vp. There is a relation between Vs, Vp and Poisson ratio. However, Poisson ratio of the recording site is not available.
Is there any way to get the...
@HTURKAK Thank you so much for replying. The question I have asked is irrespective of any seismic code. Can you please refer the location/clause number in EC-8 where i can find the definition of the 'Characteristic value of response spectrum'.
Thank You.

I came across a term 'characteristic value of response spectrum' in the literature in relation to seismic design of structure. Can anyone kindly elaborate the meaning of this term used in earthquake engineering?
How can one find characteristic value of a design (acceleration) response spectrum ...
Dear All,
I have modelled an 'I' shaped shear wall in the building using section designer. After running the analysis(static) and while checking the design, the 'I' shaped section is automatically getting converted to rectangular member of different c/s and reinforcement. Can anyone know about...
Is it able to carryout pushover analysis with link element in SAP2000 ?
Does the non-linearity assigned to the link in SAP2000 works in case of non-linear static analysis (Pushover analysis) ?
Ravi K
Thanks @ahmethayal for your kind reply. The 1st link contains few Indian records but i am not sure about the 2nd link. Whether PEER NGA Database contains the ground motions recorded in India ?
Ravi K
Does anybody know the link of reliable Databases for earthquakes recorded in India ?
COSMOS gives a small number of earthquakes recorded in India. There is another database which contains a large indian number indian earthquake records, PESMOS, managed by IIT Roorkee. But the website is...
I am new in the Area of High performance concrete. I wanted to know that, "Is there any standard guidelines for mix design of High performance concrete for any part of the world ?"
I found one, ACI 211.4R-93 but is only focused on high strength. If there is no standard specification then how...
Chicopee, I wanted to model the components of a barrage in software tools and the barrage can be any barrage. If you have construction details of barrages in the Columbia river within the State of Oregon (USA). That will also be helpful. Thanks

What is the meaning of null steps in SAP2000? How the null steps occur?
How can be the null steps occurring in the Pushover analysis be reduced so that the number of required steps be achieved?
Ravi K
Whenever i conduct some pushover analysis in SAP2000, the result do not converge. Only in few cases, I can complete the analysis with any problem. What may be the problem behind this ?
Ravi K
Thanks JedClampett for replying.
By Barrage I mean, a type of low-head, diversion dam which consists of a number of large gates that can be opened or closed to control the amount of water passing through.
I have attached a pic of the same (Ref: Wiki)
