I am using topology optimization in NX12.
I have two design spaces, consisting of two volumes which share some of the same space (see picture below).
In other words, these two boxes slightly overlap. They both have constraints and load cases applied. You are seeing the resulting geometry...
SOLVED
The twist can be attenuated by selecting Alignment: By points in the Section Options.
Enabling the preserve shape tick-box in Section Options solved the missing edges problem.
I feel stupid for asking, but where do I find this command?
Also, If I have square sections, is there a way to make all the sweep edges appear as edges? I only get two true edges and two 'false' edges along the sweep (sorry if poor explanation).
And thank you so much for helping me!
I am using NX12. I am experiencing an unfortunate twist in the sweep and I can not find a way to solve this.
I am trying to transition from a square section to a circular section. As you can see in the images, the transition is twisted 45 degrees, as if subjected to a massive torque.
How...
Hi, Rothers.
I took a look at the Prefs/meshing dialog, and enabled the Project Node to CAD, but this did nothing.
Since I am using NX12, the High Resolution Polygon Bodies option has been moved to the polygon geometry tree. I assume it has previously been located in the preferences?
Anyway...
Tuw, Thank you very much for the feedback. Unfortunately, it seems I cannot apply your advice in this situation. Let me explain.
The diameter of the notch is 2mm. The circumference of a whole circle is c = d*pi = 2(pi)mm. The arc in the notch is half of this =(pi)mm. That means I wil have...
cowski,
Yes, this is true. But as I mentioned, the percieved "sides" on the curve are much bigger than the element size.
Sides of curve: roughly 0.1mm <-- why so large?
Element size: 0.003mm
Thus, there should be more sides to the circle (i.e. "higher resolution").
Xwheelguy
Thank you!
Could also use Quick Trim in that first step.
The weird part is that Quick Trim sometimes leaves a point where the end of the former line was.
Cowski
In this case I do not intend to extrude, but to create a thin surface for latter use in a 2D mesh (FEM).
The indea of...
Im trying to mesh and simulate stress in a simple 2d example.
This represents a 1x20x100mm flat piece of steel under stress.
There is a stress concentration (notch) in the middle, with diameter 2mm.
I have been reducing the element size gradually to find a convergence value for maximal stress...
UPDATE:
I was able to achieve approximately what I asked about by using Divide Curve
However, as soon as I have selected the defining curve, I must press enter within ≈0,1 seconds, or it will deselect automaticaly. (I assume NX is trying to prevent use of in-sketch curves as definitions in...
Thank you, DidierPSICAD and NutAce.
Yes, both lines are in the same sketch. NX12
As mentioned, I only made this picture as a simplification of my actual work, wich has a multitude of lines and curves overlapping in the same sketch.
I can not fathom why this feature doesnt exist.
Hello.
I have tried to google this rather trivial request, but couldnt find anything. All related scenarios tend to relate to curves outside of sketches.
What I wish to do is cut the green line in two, exactly at the intersection with the reference line (Red Horizontal line). [I made this...
I can't get NX to give me auto balloon for multiple views in different sheets. It doesn't give me any error message, the balloons simply do not appear.
They worked fine in the first assembly view. Not on any of my other sheets for some reason.
I was thinking I could try to add multiple parts...
Never used Catia before, but have you tried exporting other file-types from NX?
I would just export every available type and see if Catia can read any of them.
Also, I noticed that you don't have any history on the model in NX, indicating that it wasn't made in NX. Might it be possible that...
I think this will work but I can not guarantee it (I am using NX12.0):
Make a curve around the cylinder. For example you can use a plane and intersection curve.
Make a sketch on that curve.
Make several points where you want the holes using pattern curve (in the sketch).
Select the sketch...
Hello Tomas!
Thank you for your reply on the matter. I am aware of the legacy lineweight situation, but in my case I am dealing with newer drawings. (Parts made in NX 12.0).
I have tried to edit the customer defaults, but there seems to be a multitude of menu segments devoted to lineweights...
Thank you for your reply.
I have tried doing what you said. It works to some extent.
Still cant access certain options so I would advise Siemens to take a look at this problem.
What I do now is adjust symbol/text/number height by prefs, then scale down all line thicknesses through the print...
I am trying to generate some documents (pdf) from my drawing sheets in NX.
I want to use primarily A4 and A3 size sheets. ISO / NS Standard.
Firstly, the generated dimensions, symbols, and annotations, are oversized. Well, the 3.5 size of the dimension text is actually within ISO standard...
