Hello guys,
I have one SS vessel, code stamped as per edition 2017 for some design condition with -60 degree F MDMT, temperature. Order was placed by client in oct-2018 & delivery was in March 2019, but for some reason, client didn't collected the material and cancelled the order in in may...
Dear experts,
After reviewing the code case 2901 & UG-44(b) of ASME Sec. VIII Div. 1 Ed. 2019, it appears that code still does not mandatorily tells us to use the provision of context mentioned there in, as they use EXTERNAL LOADS MAY BE EVALUATED and not SHALL BE , as in, Flange rating...
Dear Experts,
Can anyone Please help with some reference to handbook or spreadsheet or PDF calculation for design of Support Lugs (PN 109 as per drawing below) and Support Pin (PN 110 as per drawing below) for Swing Bolts for Slotted Flanges...
Dont use the values shown in calculation as is, You need to convert units to harmonize and you'll definitely get the answer.
As the software calculates internally in customary units, while displays the equations & values as per your units.
Thanks,
Rajput
Dear experts,
For Loose-type flange (As per Fig. 3a of Appendix-2 - Thickness 101 mm) attached to Shell (Thickness - 12 mm), What shall be the governing thickness as per UCS-66??

You may use Ed. 2017 for now, But if your MDR does not get signed before January 1, 2020, As per CL. 43-1 (b), critical changes in Ed. 2019 shall be considered by Manufacturer, and such changes shall be a matter of agreement between user and manufacturer.
Since there are Critical changes in Ed...
Thank you so much Littleinch, david339933 & moltenmetal for your responses,
Your reply resolved my doubt, when you mentioned that B16.5 states "Max. allowable working pressure" in gauge pressure.
I had ASME certification audit on 11th and 12th, thats why couldn't respond on your reply.
I...
Dear members,
I have been thinking for a while now, For ASME B16.5 flanges, Pressure indicated in Flange rating tables are OPERATING PRESSURE or it is Design Pressure ??
The question arises as the Software (PVElite) considers this pressure as Design Pressure, while some the clients has...
FOR EXTERNAL PRESSURE,
1. If out of roundness check as per UG-81(b)/UG-80(b) is required to be checked for Standard Pipe Cap?
2. If Out of roundness check as per UG-81(b)/UG-80(b) is required to be checked for Floating Hd. Crown (for type-d floating hd crown)?
Thanks in advance,
Rajput.
Taper would not be required as thickness difference is only 0.27 mm.
Sketch (j) & (k) looks like there is no any skirt!, also as per UG-32(k) integral skirt is not required.
Note (8) is applicable to all cases.
Thanks Mike.
Rajput.
for one of my vessels, which is having a seamless shell of 14.27 mm thickness (NPS 12 diameter) attached by Dish Ends of 14 (nom) / 12 (min.) on both sides. We have provided skirt length of 32 mm.
Note 8 of Fig. UW-13.1 seems very confusing, and what i conclude is, skirt length 3 times th (need...
