    ASME 1971 B31.3

Can anyone help me to find the chart for minimum pipe wall thickness for various nominal pipe sizes? Does it even exist in this version? TIA

    branch connection

Most common for this case would be a Reducing Tee. Could also use a straight tee with a reducer on the branch.

    branch connection

depends on size of branch/header, material, wall thickness. Need more details. Preferred? Does that mean ease of installation, fabrication, or best design practice?

    b31.3 hydrotesting

I am looking to remove an existing pipe shoe which is currently welded on and replace with a clamp-on shoe (no welding required) However, the existing shoe will likely have to be cut off of the existing 8" pipe. Will I need to hydrotest the piping since the shoe was cut off from the pipe surface?

    ASTM A106 gr C

Would that mean that my other values are below the minimums listed in ASTM?

    ASTM A106 gr C

I was given a chemical analysis report and asked to review. I'm finding that the Si value is higher than listed in the standard chemical requirements. Any comments on this? Is this something I should be concerned with?? TIA...

    Noise Mitigation around Piping

gaseous flow thru piping is causing noise. does not appear to be caused by supports or vibrating connections to the piping.

    Noise Mitigation around Piping

Hello All, I've identified the sources of the sound and have had some measurements done on the piping to determine the attenuation of sound levels required for frequencies ranging from 125-8k hertz. Looking at options of lagging and insulation, it appears that these solutions will only...

    Noise Mitigation around Piping

I am currently working on a design for some noise mitigation which involves piping that requires new acoustic lagging. Some of the piping has existing acoustic lagging. The bare piping where new lagging is required will also require an attenuation. What is the best practice or option for...

    b31.3 min wall thickness calcs

Thanks all, The fitting in question would be a standard fitting from 326.1 in b31.3. My conclusion resulted in taking the thickness of the straight pipe as the necessary tmin since I am not performing any pipe bends. This thread was enlightening and helps me to confirm my decision. Thanks...

    b31.3 min wall thickness calcs

I have done my wall thickness calc for straight pipe which works for the fitting in my spec. Upon doing the calc for pipe bend with the same material I find that my intrados min wall thickness is higher than than w.t. of the fitting. Is there an exception in the code to get around this issue...
