Solidworks - Add "REF" Text to Datum Target?

Howdy folks -- looking to re-create an old drawing of ours in Solidworks. Our datum targets in the original drawing (created in NX6 when I was a wee babe) sometimes include the text "REF" in the upper half of the bubble. This is of course only when they're being used as references -- the...

NX6: Basic Dual Dimensions Not Correct Between Inches and Millimeters

ewh -- That would be the issue, I think! It's 2.553671 in / 64.86324 mm.

NX6: Basic Dual Dimensions Not Correct Between Inches and Millimeters

Cowski -- Thank you for the recommendation. I checked Preference > Drafting, but none of the four tabs (Edit: tabs named 'General', 'Preview', 'View' and 'Annotation') had any option like 'convert tolerance...' As for the dimensions, they ARE very close, however when I increase the displayed...

NX6: Basic Dual Dimensions Not Correct Between Inches and Millimeters

Hello, On one of our drawings, it seems that all the dual dimensions are off. By 'off' I mean that the inches would be correct, but the mm would not. For the ones that were set up as 'limit', we were able to correct the issue by changing the +/- values on the mm. However with the 'basic'...

    DXF Export to Solidworks

Rob -- yes the .prt files can be opened as dumb solids in Solidworks. However, no drawing information is included in that and the model is completely uneditable. We have some limited success using feature recognition, but that doesn't come close to covering the amount of editability we need.

    DXF Export to Solidworks

NutAce -- thanks for the info, we'll look into that! Cowski -- Does one have to have a license to have a seat? We have one seat on a remote desktop that is shared by multiple users, but (my understanding is that) we aren't up-to-date on licenses or anything, and it would cost a pretty penny to...

    DXF Export to Solidworks

I have a bit of a tricky one today... We are currently using NX6, which is obviously very outdated, and Solidworks. Most of our old stuff is all in NX6, but we're looking to be able to transfer it all to Solidworks. One option is of course to redraw everything (or outsource that work). The...

NX6: How to hide centerline of a coil in an assembly drawing?

Jerry -- that worked! Took just a few seconds to locate, so for anyone else who may come across this looking for the solution... it's Edit > View > View Dependent Edit. Select the desired view then edit as necessary. Thanks Jerry!

NX6: How to hide centerline of a coil in an assembly drawing?

Hello -- I have a large assembly drawing with about 80 components in it. One of these is a tightly coiled spring. In the model, the 'centerline' of the wire that coils into the spring shape does NOT show. However, in drafting view suddenly it appears. I cannot select it or right click on it...

NX6: How to Replace Reference Set?

Matnas, THANK YOU, I believe that was the issue! I definitely wouldn't have found that one on my own.

NX6: How to Replace Reference Set?

Tim -- I believe I do? Please see the screenshot I attached to my 2nd post. It shows the options when I RMB on a component under Assembly Navigator -- Replace Component wasn't an option. Unless I'm REALLY missing something and the thing that says 'Assembly Navigator' at the top isn't really...

NX6: How to Replace Reference Set?

Brief update... I even figured out how to add 'Components' to the Assemblies menu, but as you can see in this screenshot, it doesn't offer any commands under 'Components'. If I went to 'Context Control', it would show several options...

NX6: How to Replace Reference Set?

Tim -- funny you should say that because I *just* went through and looked at the Training docs under Help in our NX software. It had directions to Replace Component, but our software doesn't seem to match up! (See screenshot) ... 'Open Components' didn't do anything. They had 3 ways of...

NX6: How to Replace Reference Set?

Rob, thanks for the reply! However I think I am still missing something. I'm sharing a screenshot in case it helps (unfortunately due to company policy I can't share what's in the viewport). How do I get a list of parts to choose from to show up in the first place? As you can see in my...

NX6: How to Replace Reference Set?

Hello again... as with my last question, this seems like a silly question with a simple answer, but we do not have any folks who know how to do detailed stuff in NX6 and I couldn't find any support/training literature online. In Solidworks, what I am attempting to do is just 'Replace Model' in...

NX6 -- How to lengthen existing section view line?

Pretty much what the subject says... how does one lengthen an existing section view line? We have an old part that was recently modified to be longer. However, the section view line is now too short for the part. I have had no formal training on NX (let alone NX6), but playing around with...
