Hello,
Model: Dam-foundation-reservoir system - Linear analysis
Why do I get different frequencies when I run my model only for a frequency step and a frequency step in a multistep analysis?
For example,
1. Frequency step - mode 1 frequency is 1.73 Hz
2. Frequency step - Gravity step -...

The *adaptive mesh option is not supported with enriched elements

For two-dimensional models, if a non-unity thickness is specified for two-dimensional solid elements and these elements are involved in an interaction such as contact, the same thickness should be specified...
Thanks! I forgot to mention that this is a dynamic analysis (earthquake). I included the adaptive meshing because if ignored, the tie constraints are ignored as well. The following is the **warning message**
"Unless the *adaptive mesh option is used in a *static analysis: acoustic elements and...
Hello,
I am modeling a dam-reservoir interaction using XFEM enriched elements in the dam structure and acoustic domain to model water elements in the reservoir region. Both dam and reservoir domains are tied at their interface. However, the job has an error showing Adaptive Meshing can't be...
I was not entirely sure multi-step analysis would carry forward the results from the static steps to subsequent dynamic steps. A lot of my earlier simulations were done that way and out of blue, I had this doubt if should I import results or should I do multi-step. Thanks for confirming...
My earthquake analyses steps are as follows:
1. I have a dam-reservoir-foundation system analysed for static loads (gravity, hydrostatic etc.). This is performed in a static, general step.
2. I open a separate cae file which is exactly the model definition from step and import the .odb from...
Hi,
I'm using a command-line interface to run my post-processing Abaqus python scripts.
Since it's a huge output database, I want to use GPU to speed the process. Is there a way to engage GPU cores and how to do it?
I usually use the following commands on windows power shell with Abaqus...
I've increased the mesh size in the dam structure and distortion has been taken care of, but the solution seems to be not converging. A trivial nonlinear problem.
Is it because of the constitutive model, boundary conditions, interactions or something which I'm unable to figure out? I would...
I'm studying the response of a dam-reservoir-foundation system to earthquake excitation using coupled acoustic structural analysis method. However, the analysis is aborted due to extreme element distortion. The distortion looks unreal. I'm attaching the picture of it below. What are the possible...
I'm modeling a dam-reservoir system using couple structural-acoustic analysis method by Abaqus. I see 293 unconnected regions error and tried to find out which are the unconnected regions using unconnected_regions command. However, I'm unable to find out where to view the sets generated by the...
Hi FEA Way,
I tried reproducing the Notched unreinforced concrete beam under 3-pointing bending problem using their input file. My load-displacement output curves do not seem to be in agreement with those in the manual. Which load and displacement are used to plot the load-displacement curves...
Solved the problem by reducing the number of partition surfaces from eight to two and I still didn't understand the reason for the problem earlier. However, increasing position tolerance didn't seem to work. Thanks for the assistance
Hi, I tried position tolerance and adjusting initial slave position, but the problem still persists. Do you think it has something to do with the different mesh sizes being tied together? I don't think so. I'd like to know your opinion here.
I'm modelling a dam-foundation-reservoir system using acoustic elements to model reservoir domain.
I created an element based surface each for (Structure and foundation) and reservoir and used Tie Constraint to account for the interaction between the surfaces.
In my simulation results, I see...

That's what I have read on the manual but how do you think I can implement stress-displacement based damage model in Concrete Damage Plasticity since it is showing the above mentioned error? Thanks for your time.
I'm implementing stress displacement-based damage model for tension using Concrete Damaged Plasticity. So, it turns out when I select displacement-based input instead for cracking strain, ABAQUS will issue an error message if the calculated plastic strain values are negative and/or decreasing...
I'm verifying my Concrete Damage Plasticity constitutive model using a tension test on an L-Panel. The test is displacement controlled and is applied at the lower right bottom of the L Panel. I am also verifying the mesh insensitivity of sizes 200mm, 300mm and 400mm by using stress-displacement...
