Uplift Load Cases formula(Table 5.20) in API 650 13th edition different from 12th edition ???

I found out that the formula for Uplift Load Cases in Table 5.20b is different in the 13th edition from that of the 12th edition. Also, W1, W2, and W3 are defined differently in the 13th edition. Will it make a huge difference if we follow the 12th edition rather than the 13th edition in this...

    Nozzles added over another nozzle

IFRs, The dip tube directs the acid into the tank shell. I prefer using a blind over the nozzle's flange and above this blind, create a hole for insertion of the dip tube's nozzle neck, but for this purpose, what shall be the requirements to be fulfilled as per API 650?

    Figure F.2

How do we calculate exact value of 'Le' in Figure F.2? I found that the maximum value of 'Le' could be 250/(Fy)^0.5 mm or 3000/(Fy)^0.5 inch. But could not find the exact formula to calculate 'Le'.

Calculation of Shell Thickness from Seismic Calculation in API 650

Thank you HTURKAK. I am trying to build up my own spreadsheet for the overall API 650 calculation. And I come across several confusions, so I was hoping to get some genuine example problems so that I could clear my doubts as well as verify my work.

Calculation of Shell Thickness from Seismic Calculation in API 650

Thank you HTURKAK for the reply. Yes, JStephen, I was referring to Seismic Hoop Stresses in Annex E, and I was wondering if the shell thickness is directly calculated because I found an example problem where thickness due to Seismic calculations was written separately. Since the example problem...

Calculation of Shell Thickness from Seismic Calculation in API 650

In a Pressure Vessel Handbook by Megyesy, I found a formula to calculate the thickness of the shell by using a Maximum seismic moment at the base of the tower. But in API 650, I could not find the exact formula to calculate the minimum thickness of the shell by using seismic calculation (or...

Maximum Stress for top plate and chair height (AISI Steel Plate Engg. VOL 2 Anchor Chair Design)

JStephen, Thank you for your response. According to API 650 section 5.12.6, "An acceptable procedure for anchor chair design is given in AISI Steel Plate Engineering Data, Volume 2, Part 5, Anchor Bolt Chairs.” So, I referred to this specific book and found that the maximum recommended stress...

Maximum Stress for top plate and chair height (AISI Steel Plate Engg. VOL 2 Anchor Chair Design)

After calculating S (for the top plate) from equation (7-1) and S(for chair height) from equation (7-3), what shall we compare them with? Do both of them need to be less than 25 ksi? (PS: Expecting for some help)

Formula to calculate height of sloshing wave above design height(E.7.2)

Yes, Tc is around 4 and Ks is around 0.6 but I=1.5 and Sd1 = Q*Fv*S1 = 1*1.5*0.5 = 0.75 decimal %g. Is the value of Sd1 incorrect? Also to calculate Delta_S (Sloshing wave height), shall we use 0.42 or 0.5 in the formula?
