Cleanouts are mandatory according to api 650?

Hello, that's my doubt: Just a hypothetical scenario... If i have a small Diesel tank built according to API 650 (like 6m dia and 6m height),and a 500mm manhole on the shell, can I use the manhole to clean the tank? Do I really need a cleanout door to clean the tank or can i use the manhole...

API 650 Annex F tank - Roof plate thickness

Hi Geoff13, thanks for your answer. Thats exactly what i did, found 6.3mm for roof plate thickness. Many thanks for your answers :)

API 650 Annex F tank - Roof plate thickness

JStephen, I tried to use the worst joint eff possible, but still got low thicknesses comparated to the method descripted in 5.10.5. I guess you and Hturkak are both right. Really aprecciate your answer. I hope the best for both :)

API 650 Annex F tank - Roof plate thickness

Dear all, im designing a tank under api 650 annex F for academic purpose. the roof is cone type (self-supporting) with 9.5º slope Using the equation given in F.6.1 (written below) i got 0.046 mm t = (P x R)/((cos(alpha)*Sd*E) + CA t = (0.363*2.865)/(0.165*137*1) = 0.046 mm here is my data...

    Tank Nozzle

You need to see what standard the tanks were made. See API 620 and API 650 for advice

    Tank roof repair using BELZONA

@Dhujarti Sen, thanks for your answer. I'm worried about this practice too. I'll have a meeting with my client and I'll alert him about this practice. If you have some good info about this, could you send to me?

    Tank roof repair using BELZONA

@HTURKAK: Thanks for the answer! I will get this API RP right now :) @IFRs: Thanks for the answer too :) Will you limit the hole size you going to allow to be patched? My client didn't say anything about this,so , at this first moment, I'll recommend this type of repair for holes that do not...

    Tank roof repair using BELZONA

@IRFs, I am studying an issue for my client, The issue: My client owns hundreds (literally) of API 650 vertical storage tanks at various fuel terminals nation-wide (not USA!). I need to make several step-by-step procedures (according to API) to standarize the maintenance of these tanks. They...

    Tank roof repair using BELZONA

@IFRs, thank you for your answer. :) Do you know where I can find any normative recommendation for this type of repair?

    Tank roof repair using BELZONA

Dear colleagues, Could someone tell me where can I find in API 650 or 653 about tank roof repair using cold work? (for example, BELZONA)

How to avoid shell buckling during API650 tank repair

@IFRs, this EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thanks a lot. Well, about the calculations, probably another company will do, but I think they will sketch the tank without door sheet in some finite element software and analyze, or just weld some beams on it without calculations. Anyway, when i get...

How to avoid shell buckling during API650 tank repair

Dear HTURKAK, thanks again for the answer. Yes, all the tanks have self-supported cone roof and some of them have internal floating roof (gasoline tanks). As I didn't find anything in API 650 and 653 about shell temporary support calculation method, we'll do some calculations and proper...

How to avoid shell buckling during API650 tank repair

Dear friends @IFRs and @HTURKAK thanks for the repplies! I apologize for the lack of info in this post, it's my first time in this forum. The tanks have single bottom. I need to make a step by step procedure (in compilance with API650 and API653) to install a double bottom in these tanks. It's...

How to avoid shell buckling during API650 tank repair

Hi everyone, my problem is: There are several tanks and I need to standardize the double bottom installation process. It's my first time dealing with API650.I have to open some space in the shell. How I design the supports around the shell to avoid buckling? I have with me API650 and API653...
