    Specific fuel consumption mapping

Hello, I am reviewing specific fuel consumption mapping of one the diesel engine. I have reviewed it before but they were g/kWhr. One of this is given in (%). Not sure how do I read it. I have attached fuel mapping for reference. If I read it, for example, 2200 RPM@ 110kW, its 104?? I know...

    Flexplate/flywheel

Thank you, @TugboatEng. That helps lot. So in both pictures they are flex plates. But image 1 flex plate directly bolted on the crankshaft while image 2 flex plate is bolted to fly wheel of the engine. Right?

    Flexplate/flywheel

Hello Greg, Can I say that it will be either flywheel or flex plate which will attach to crankshaft center? I have attached two images, I have worked in forklift industry and came across plates as shown in image 2. Image 1 has FLEXPLATE with RING gear. I understand that image 2 plates are...

    Flexplate/flywheel

Hello, I know that flex plates are mounted to torque converter and assembly is attached to engine flywheel. I have attached one amazon link, it say that its flexplate. I wonder how it works. It also has ring gear. https://www.amazon.ca/Allstar-Performance-ALL26805-Standard-Flexplate/dp/B003BZX1JS

    Flexplate/flywheel

Hello Dave, Thank you very much for providing WIKI link but that is not enough to understand. The underground mining vehicle has 5 speed automatic transmission, and engine has dana spicer 13-15-17 flywheel. I want to understand how they fit clark SAE3 flex plate with it. Some online articles...

    Flexplate/flywheel

Hello, I am working with one of the sales engineer for diesel engine and he asked if company provides Clark SAE3 flexplate. The spec I see includes 'Flywheel for Dana Spicer 13-15-17, with SAE3 housing'. I am wondering what is the difference between both of them? I am confuse between...

Grid heater and flame heater after charge air cooling in diesel engine

Perfect. I got the answer. It is activated automatically if the temperature falls below a specified value and will shutdown at certain engine temp has reached. Thanks,Swinny

Grid heater and flame heater after charge air cooling in diesel engine

Hello Swinny, Thanks for responding. Is it thermostatically controlled? So, when certain cylinder temp is achieved, it will shut down?

Grid heater and flame heater after charge air cooling in diesel engine

I was going through Diesel engine spec of Mercedes diesel engine. I see that there is an option for grid heater or flame heater after charge air cooler, means air to heat before it enters into intake manifold. Can someone, please, explain why one would need air to heat after charge air cooler if...

    Twin thermostat waterpump

I am going through some literature of Rolls-Royce diesel engines and wondering how is the working of twin thermostat water pump? Why there are two outlets to radiator? Most of the time I dealt with water pump which has single thermostat in housing.

    Inline radiator heater

Hello Brain, The problem is engine won't fire up in cold weather.

    Inline radiator heater

@BrianPeterson I am attaching few images for your reference. The engine itself is 1000cc PG engine. The core plug adapter is hard to finds, so, we are trying to find a way for warm coolant to make its way inside engine. We tried hotstart 1000 watt block heater but it will open the thermostat...

12 Volt vs 24 Volt diesel engine

It is for my understanding. Sometimes, I configure engine and it comes to me as 24 v and sometimes 12 v. I was curious to know, why?

    Inline radiator heater

The other question I have is that if radiator thermostat is configured to open between 180F to 195 F, and block heater is ranged between 100 to 120 F, why radiator thermostat is opening up so early. I am trying to understand how its working. Is it due to heat capacity of the radiator thermostat...

    Inline radiator heater

Thanks for responding. The problem we are facing is that its hard to find frost plug adapter for 30mm. The engine manufacturer suggest to use screwed opening to circulate heater water inside block. But that opening is close to radiator thermostat. so, before heated coolant start circulating...
