    Deformation of a brake disc

Hi! Just looking at the Abaqus brake disc tutorial (linked at bottom) for a thermal analysis of a disc. The results (Figure 5.1.1-7 in the link) shows how the thermal expansion in the disc causes it to curve towards the outboard side. My results are the same. Could anyone help me understand why...

    Thermal stress question

Ah yeah that was dumb of me haha. How about only a rigid pad? Would that cause a large increase in stress? And yes this is a coupled stress temp analysis:)

    Thermal stress question

Thanks for the reply! Well thats good as im only interested in the disc haha. Would you be able to comment on the validity of rigid bodies in my case?

    Thermal stress question

Hi everyone, so im analysing brake discs and the heat caused under braking. I have made models where both pad and disc are rigid, and where both are deformable. Now, rhe deformable models take a very long time to run. I’m wondering if thermal stress output for the rigid body models (or maybe...

    Brake disc coupled temp-disp help?

Hi FEA Way, thanks for the reply! Unfortunately the force on the pad is something i need to set a value for so i don’t think I’d be able to change it for a displacement. Could you please explain what you mean about automatic/ contact stabilisation and how it can help? Thanks again!

    Brake disc coupled temp-disp help?

Hi all! I’m trying to model a rigid brake disc with a rigid pad applied. I have made a version with a simple disc and symmetry so only one pad is applied which works (although it takes a very long time due to warning: ‘displacement increment is too big’ if anyone can advice how to precent...
