Good day,
I have seen similar posts to this but no clear answer. Simple question as follows:
Pad footing with only axial loading 1.5m deep (1.5m of soil cover), is it necessary to consider all that weight on top of the pad footing if no uplift is occurring?
The only time I consider it is...
Good day,
I'm looking for a intermediate to advanced dynamic loading textbook but would like to consult the forum for recommendations. Preferably one that talks to FEM modelling but I'm very open to the old school hand calcs to understand the fundamentals.
Thanks in advance
Beam is continuous past the column.
It's an atrium area in a high rise supporting glass work. Architects don't want to see beams bracing in the strong axis.
Good day, All
My query is regarding this situation between steel beams supported at either ends with a column in the middle being braced along its weak axis.
If the beam can take 2% of the axial load applied on the column, does this mean that the column is therefore braced in it's strong...
Good day,
When modelling a flat slab with columns in the middle to create column strips, the top moment is extremely high (the peak moment increase with smaller mesh size).
Comparing this to running a beam strip as a column strip the moments are more realistic (but way less than FEM analysis)...
Good day,
I'm looking for a textbook or any relevant literature on advanced stability of structures, I've been searching for a while but I'm hoping that someone has a great reference for a hidden gem. Preferably in metric format.
Thanks in advance
Good day,
My query is regarding designing bracing (cross bracing) as tension only members, mainly in low rise warehouses. Why is this the norm as bracing could be compressed leading the member to fail due to slenderness. Is it purely for economical efficiency?
Thanks for your time
