How can I evaluate if I need to replace a deformed bottom plate?
Its a 12m long carbon steel plate and in some points MFL stucked because the deformation.
I have a tank with the bottom projection corroded in the whole perimeter.
As you guys can see in the pictures, a lot of areas below the retirement limits.
API653 says:
4.4.5.7 Unless a stress analysis is performed that considers future corrosion until the time it can be inspected,
repaired, or...
The tank was already inspected per 653, new bottom and new ring was the recommendation.
I'm worried about mixing new and old plates because I had bad experience welding patch plates in old tanks. The material seemed to crumble.
Thanks for you answer!
In the terminal I work we have a couple of tanks in need to be reconstructed, new bottom and in some we need to also substitute the first ring.
These tanks are operating more than 40 years, I'm worried about the weldability of the new plates with the old one.
Anyone can indicate a test or a...
I'm brazilian certified on API-653 looking for jobs outside Brazil.
Obviously, the first option its USA, but I see that Middle East also has a good market.
With only the 653 certification I will be able to have a position or do I need another API certification or a ASTN certification?
Oh sorry... API-650.
No especific range., I just need to know what is the maximum SG for the case we need to storage a product with a higher SG.
I'm also always calculating the maximum fill height, for the case of a different product.
Thanks for your answer.
Thanks for your comment.
Yes... it is an existing tank. Mostly of our tanks are multipurpose, sometimes we change the storaged product.
The first one was really a dumb question, already solved, thanks.
The second I already found on 650.
Thanks again.
Hello everyone!
I need some help with two topics about API tanks.
1) What is the formula to calculate the maximum specific gravity I can store on a tank? I only find minimum thickness and hydrotest height.
2) Where I can find Maximum Allowable Shell Stresses for stainless steel to calculate...
