If one joint of a dome (e.g. a circular dome) is fixed, it will start to elongate/shrink relative to that point (pic 5 below). If the span of the dome is large, these movements can be significant. I just can't imagine how it looks like in reality, and maybe it is acceptable, and the temperature...
