Perhaps you've been reading too much labour propaganda.
I don't read the "conservative" press nor do I pay much attention to the lies and BS the Labour Party put out. Labour and tory are two sides of the same coin as far as I'm concerned.
Every year the day at we have earned enough to...

True but given that we're now higher taxed than ever in the UK and Gordon Brown is a lover of high taxation particularly by stealth I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised to see even higher taxation.

EV will give you a % complete if you think about it.
Progressing the target project can be done either task by task or by automatically statusing activities. The help files and P3 documentation will take you through it step by step. Keep a "clean" copy of the Target first though and on...

I wouldn't recommend updating the target. You could do it though if you were determined to go that way. Asuume that each target activity is progressing to schedule and then roll up Target percentage complete. My worry is that you would inadvertently alter Target schedule dates...
I was always taught that adding progress to the target was a no-no. I've never seen it done and I can't think why you would want to do it. I'll have a play with a sample schedule and see what happens.
P3 or P3e?

Hodge's comments are typical of the crap we have come to expect from New Labour. They couldn't care less about engineering. And I used to think the tories were bad.
I think DrillerNic has hit the nail on the head. This scholarship is hardly advertised. I'm an IMechE member and have sat sat on an IMechE area panel. It always seemed to me that some panels had little interest in promoting the profession particularly in schools.
I agree with HamishMcTavish.
I particularly recommend Turner's work. I refer to it almost daily.
Another book I found useful is:
Professional Construction Management by Donald S. Barrie and Boyd C.Paulson. As the title suggests it is heavily biased towards construction projects though.
