Tool Steel For Piercing Die with high tensile strength after heat treatment

Thanks for the help. Aluminium 340-400 mpa tensile 3 mm thk. Cold piercing op. on an automotive piercing rig. See attached pdf. http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=279ab3fd-7dc6-4be9-94a4-6c71d1e0d5cf&file=DIE_PLATE_1.pdf

Tool Steel For Piercing Die with high tensile strength after heat treatment

I need to specify a die for a piercing operation which needs to have a high tensile strength, probably around 1000 mpa if possible and yet still be sufficiently hard to give a reasonable life in terms of retaining its sharp edge. Anybody out there with any suggestions?

    Steel for glass channel

I wonder if anyone can help. I'm designing a stretch bender for producing a car door window glass channel. I can't get any info out of the end user on the steel to be used. Has anyone any idea of what steel is used in glass channels and what its yield stress is likely to be. It's already rolled...

Input and output torques with multiple driven gears.

I'm upgrading an expanding, rotating mandrel to take a doubled payload. As shown in the attachment, there are 2 sets of 3 equispaced ballscrews expanding rubber faced pads onto the inside of a drum, driven by 1:1 bevel gears. If the torque required to produce an axial force in each screw is T...

    Through hardening 42CrMo4.

Thanks for your help fellas! Should I specify a depth for the induction hardening on these pinions? If so, what would be the resulting hardness in the core and would this be consistent with the bending fatigue limit I have stated? I do have the option of ordering slewing rings with a steel spec...

    Through hardening 42CrMo4.

Yes, it is low speed. The 29t max pinion speed is 50 rpm and the 27t is 30 rpm.

    Through hardening 42CrMo4.

I have 2 drive pinions which I need to harden. The material is 42CrMo4. One of them has 29 teeth at 4.5 module and a face width of 40mm meshing with an 88 tooth slewing ring. The other has 27 teeth at 4.5 module and 44mm face width meshing with a 68 tooth slewing ring. Both are 20 degree...

Inventor 8 crashes importing large IGES files

When importing IGES files into Inventor 8 and Mech Desktop 2004 for that matter, I'm having trouble with the PC crashing. I seem to be able to import some files up to about 10 Mb successfully whereas others of 6 Mb won't have it. The installation is a fresh reinstall of XP Pro less than 2 weeks...

inertia matching servo motor to gearbox

I need to know the formula for matching a servo motor to a gearbox (planetary in this particular case) given the moments of inertia for both units. I suspect that the reduction ratio and possibly other factors will influence the outcome. Would appreciate help.

    tolerances

Increasingly I am seeing js8, js13 and other js tolerances in component catalogues. Can anyone tell me what standard these are part of, and direct me to that standard?
