Has anyone played with this in Pro/E? I'm wondering if this could be used with Pro/Process.
thanks

Steve:
I can not select another component CS but I can select another assembly CS.
Try it. It worked for me.
the key is to move the CS once you created it before the component requiring the fix constraint with the newly created CS.

after a little playing around I created a new coordinate system in my assembly that was set z normal to screen while my pars was oreinted on screen to the front.
Then by selecting this new coorindate system in my fix contraint my fix contraint allowed my part to stay put.
thanks for your help...
the sub-type of assembly I have problems with is design.
I just emailed a couple of screenshots at your info address at 3dlogix
let me know if you have access to that.

Hi Steve:
I wish the part would stay in place but this is not the case. As I remove or uncheck other contraints the fix contrain does not keep the part in its original position.
this does not ocurr for every part, but when it does I'm forced to remove the fix contraint.

Hi Users:
I was wondering if some one knows a work around when the fix constrain does not work.
I move my part to where I want but when I hit the fix constrain it flips my part.
I set my position by outside references but do not want to keep these outside references. The fix constraints works...
Thank you all for your suggestions.
Here is what I've decided to use.
Hinge assembly with family table Hinge_OPEN & Hinge_CLOSE
Door assembly with family table Door_OPEN & Door_CLOSE. With generic assembly having both hinge assemblies.
In my Cabinet assembly I use Door_CLOSE assembly but when I...
thanks camcadguy but it suggests putting all the hinges in the generic assembly
from artical:
"Assemble all of the instances in the family table to the top-level assembly."
so Marty is doing it basicly the same as I know what will work, but is that best way to go about this?
still searching.
Hi All Users:

Hi All:
I'm using Wildfire and I'm set up so that my text is displayed yellow but plots black.
I would like to do the same for sheet metal parts but the only way I could do this is to change it to text color with in sytems color.
I know I can set it to colors temporary to get the results I...
Where within Pro/E do you set the print color?

Hi All:
I get the following error when I'm trying to show BOM balloons from a repeat region.
"Some report parameters, for example QTY.TWO, in the region do not support BOM balloons"
Does anyone have a work around for this?
thanks for reading

Hi All:
I'm looking to use both the file name and a different name in my BOM. I know I need to set a relations but just do not know how to word it.
here are my parameters:
alt_prt_no (yes/no)
alt_part_number (new part number)
if alt_prt_no=yes then alt_part_number(help)

this works great on files generated in pro/e, thanks!
I am also bringing in DXF files in to the drawing mode and I'm still getting these thick lines. I'm using Adobe Acrpbate Distillier.
any suggestions on the conrtol feature?
Hi Pro/Users:
I'm no longer a day to day user of Pro/E but I am creating PDF's of Drawings and would like to have the lines not to have a thickness when I use the Acrobat Distiller.
may some day I will get back in the saddle.

Good Day Pro/E Users:
I have been out of touch for over a year with Pro/E (working with SolidWorks)so I need a refresher.
question:
In the pro-process mode when you are creating your steps can you select a part with in a sub-assembly or do you have to select the whole sub-assembly?
thanks for...
