Could you clarify which O2 sensors you changed? I was under the impression that these cars had three sensors, two pre-cat and one post-cat. This sort of problem, as TurboTR says above, is usually indicative of the post-cat sensor going bad and this would be consistent with the mileage on the...
First, it's compressor efficiency, not volumetric efficiency and second, there is a linear relationship between inlet and outlet temperature.
Do the case where inlet is 300 Kelvins:
(1-1.8^0.283) * 300 / 0.70 = 77.6 Trise
so you have a discharge temp of 377.6 Kelvins.
Compare that with...
Well, that depends completely on the car. For a grocery getter that's going to turn a 20 second time at 70 mph, almost the whole run can ignore aero effects. On the other hand a top fuel car hits 100 mph in about 1 second, so for over 80% of the run it is clearly to your benefit to consider...
I'll second that. I got a copy back when it was first published, using it to port and build some pipes for my 1971 Kawasaki H1. I was very pleased with the result.
Just a couple years ago, I re-read my copy and was still impressed with how much pertinent content it contains.
Two-Stroke...
Here's a pic of a VW diesel that had the same bore centers as their 1.9 l, but was jacked up to 2.3 with oval pistons:

I have no details on the result, but I assume that they didn't like what they saw, as this is the only evidence I have...
Pat wrote: If the water evaporates in the manifold, it cools the air, but also displaces it with water vapour, having a net reduction in air density...
Well, I always wondered if that were true so I did the math. It turns out that the net effect is an increase in O2 density, albeit quite small...
Pat,
I don't know how you define later, but back in the '70s I had '65 and '67 Mini Cooper S 1275s that both had the "wet" suspension. It was really easy to change the right height by just pumping in or releasing antifreeze from the two Schrader valves below the rear pan.
These cars...
