    Existing joist information 32 L-AQ or 32 L-A-Q or 32 LA-Q

I am checking the capacity of the some existing joists and cannot find any information from SJI or other catalogs we have in our library. I believe it may be a 32" LA joist but am not sure what the Q relates to. It does have some concentrated loads on it that may have leade the joist company to...

    1950 Steel Joist designation?

Thank you. It looks like a bottom bearing truss. Where it is bearing on the end there is a tee that is knifed with the top and bottom chord.

    1950 Steel Joist designation?

Yes I checked the 60 year manual that we have in the office. No luck. I just rechecked the drawing and "2262" and "2463" are correct. Unless the 6 is a G. It doesn't look like the S that is printed on the drawings.

    1950 Steel Joist designation?

Does anyone have information on a joist designated as "2262" or "2463". The building was built in the early 1950's. The joist has tee shape top and bottom chords with rod web members. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Load tables would be nice.

    Stair Foundations

Clarification to this question is that the stair is being supported by existing porch framing which do have footings that extend to frost depth. The support for the bottom of the stringer is the part I was wondering about.

    Masonry wall reinforcement

I am designing an interior non-bearing masonry wall bearing on steel beam. This wall is technically not part of the Seismic resisting system and will be isolated at 3 sides in plane of the adjacent walls and roof. I am in the process of checking to see if it can be unreinforced. If so, will...

    What does "S.H. CONCRETE" mean?

We are in the process of analyzing an existing filigree slab. On the exisiting design drawings there is a note point to the top layer with the designation S.H. CONCRETE. Does this mean anything to anyone? The drawings are from the late '70s.

Timber truss connection to Steel beam

I am working on a project that involves heavy timber trusses bearing on a steel beam. I have been told that a steel shoe type connection would work best here. Does anyone know of any manufactures of this type of connection or know of any guides to design this connection?

    Timber Framed Trusses

I am working on a project right now where we are leaving the desing of the heavy timber frame trusses to the manufacturer. One of the companies I am working with says that we are responsible for the lateral bracing of the members. Where do I find the requirements for bracing the trusses bottom...

    existing wwf strength?

I am analyzing an existing elevated slab with wwf placed at top and bottom. The building was designed in the early 1950's and I cannot find the strength of the rebar or mesh on the drawings. Can somebody tell me what strength of mesh/or rebar was readily used during that time period?
