can some kind person ( or an unkind but helpful one ) , please advise me on choosing the correct tolerance for a shaft and bearing housing
i have a 300 RPM shaft running on 22212E ( spherical ) and 3212 ( double row angular contact ) bearings.
what machining tolerance do i use ( H7 / N7 / M5...
i have a 50 kw hydraulic motor , driving at 300 RPM ( 1500 N/m torque )
i want to check that a DIN 5480 spline 40 - 3 - 12 - 9H
can transmit that torque , spline length is 40 mm
i am machining a shaft from 4340 steel , no heat treatment after machining , the splined part is the smallest...
i am a little bit off topic here , but in case people want to look at leak testing for tanks , vessels , boxes etc
we often use compressed air on one side of the test object , and spray soapy water on the other side , it sometimes allows testing where hydrostatic or chemical penetrants like...
hello people.
i am after opinions on tooth type , patterns and spacing for rock saws , cutting at around a 50-60 mm wide cut .
Blade diameter is 2000 mm - 2600 mm , driven at 60 - 120 rpm
We are currently using tungsten carbide conical points in adaptors.
We generally cut sandstone for tunnel...
yes Kamikaze , i have seen the Thermal dynamics units here , but they have very low duty cycles , i think the AC/DC one is about 25 % @ 300 Amps on 3 Phase.
To their credit , they were sold very cheaply here , and kept getting cheaper , now , the biggest welding supply chain in Australia (BOC...
I agree
Or how about a wheel that you can fit to an angle grinder for those of us who are mobile and dont want to carry "another" power tool .....
I am told that a masonry cutting disc is not bad,.but not perfect either.
someone bring it on !!!!
thanks for reply , unfortunately , 95 % of my work is mobile ,and i might travel as much as 10 hours from base, i only have a 6 ton truck , so its not feasable to carry manifold gas bottles on top of the 3-4 tons of welding equipment, generator ,oxy/LPG,shielding gases etc
The 17 CFM compressor...
thanks unclesyd ,......i assume that a "breathable" air compressor would have to be a roots type compressor then ?
I suppose it wouldnt hurt to go somehwere and get a fume sniffer and check the output air to be sure , health has to be number 1 priority.....sure am glad things have...
Hi peepil.
I use filtered compressed air as breathable air when doing many welding processes (hardfacing, fluxcored,Air Arc gouging etc).
Wonder if anyone can help me with air compressor fume output....I have been told that air compressors can produce Carbon Monoxide from the pistons.
Of...
The application of this item is as a toolholder in hydraulic Rock hammers
yes , there is a case hardness , but i am not sure what process is used, and the manufacturer never tells you what their processes are , the only way i could identify the steel was to do a spectroscopic analysis , and...
I have been repairing blocks of 5120H in an extremely high fatigue application, (they hold a 120 kg steel component which oscilates at around 300 cycles per minute),weight is around 150-200 kg per block.
They are originally toughened and hardened (to approximately 63 rockwell) , and i need to...
I am after information on embrittlement in aluminium structures (marine and aircraft) due to thermal cycling , ie night / day .....winter /summer conditions.
(both in welded and mechanicaly fastened structures)
and also embrittlement patterns due to age
I realise that this is a very wide...
