    GE ES-3 Watt hour meter

I need to find a instruction manual for a GE ES-3 Watt hour meter. I had a thread on this earlier and got a connection diagram but I really need to know what the accuracy rating of the meter is.

    Substation Grading

I have a customer that has a substation that they want the gravel replaced. Is there a IEEE Std for this work? If so ehat is it?

    Line impedance calculations

1- overhead 2- 795 mcm ACSR and vertical configuration with all 3 phases on one side of a pole. It is a 46 kV circuit with a second circuit on the other side of the pole. 3- static line on top of pole 4- no info on soil resistivity

    Line impedance calculations

The situation is that I am replacing existing KD-10 relays with SEL-311A relays and the customer has no line data. Getting the reach off of these relays is not really an issue, but according to the KD-10 manual the reach setting (if desired) can be affected by the impedance angle. I have...

    vacuum bottle failure

When we do them we use and AC hipot because some manufacturers require it. Normally the voltage value is 27 kVAC for a 15 kV breaker

    Line impedance calculations

I was wondering if anyone can give me a formula or somewhere I can find it to get positive and zero sequence line impedances and angles for a transmission line. Thanks

    ES-3

Thanks for the link. Do you know if this is an electronic meter with a KYZ output or is it an analog meter with a rotating disc? According to the wiring diagrams, the ES-4 has KYZ outputs, but not the ES-5.

    Protection Relays Testers

We use Omicron's and they are great. I have used the Doble and in doing end-to-end tests the GPS unit cuts out frequently.

    Help with H2S certification.

It is not only corrosive, but it creates a steel wool type substance on any silver plated surface. We had some 480V breakers in a paper mill that would blow up a breaker weekly because the silver plating would peel off in a steel wool type form and short phase to phase. The only solution to...

    Over/Under voltage and frequency protection

It would seem to me that when you have a fault that will bring your voltage and frequencies down the bus and line would both see it, but I would tend to agree with stevenal in that you should look to the line PT's when you are going to restore the system.

    Generator issues

I guess saying that the "load" fluctautes is not correct, the generator output changes by 1 MW.

    Generator issues

I have a garbage burning generator that is having load fluctations. The plant has 3 generators, (2) 13.5MW units, and this 25MW unit. The twin 13.5MW units are stable, but the 25MW unit is constantly moving about 1 MW every minute. The 25MW unit swings even if the two 13.5MW units are...

    Generator Problem

Thanks for your help everyone, I have a few more notes concerning this problem. The plant has 3 generators, (2) 13.5MW units, and this 25MW unit (I dropped the 2 and accidentally put 5MW earlier). The twin 13.5MW units are stable, but the 25MW unit is constantly moving about 1 MW every minute...

    Generator Problem

To answer some of the questions. This is a small power plant, so they are tied directly to the grid. The installation was originally installed in the fifties, but ther have been upgrades since then. The output goes from 4MW to about 3MW all at once and takes about a day to recover. The...

    Generator Problem

The swings are actually between 1MW and 600kw every minute. The steam pressure valve does not seem to be moving at the time output changes. The governor has been checked, the exciter has been checked and the mainline steam pressure does not seem to change. It baffles the mind. Again any help...

    Generator Problem

I have a Steam Turbine generator at a garbage burner that is having load fluctuation problems it fluctuates from 16MW to 1 MW for what appears to be no reason at all. This occurs about every minute. The generator is about thrity years old and the stator has been rewound. Any input on this...

    ITE Relays

Who bought ITE relays? I have a bunch to test and need the IB's. I think they are the same as ABB electromechanical relays, but I need to be sure.

    Hi-pot testing vs. meggering

You are correct in assuming that a megger and a Hipot test are basically looking for the same thing, but a Hipot test is typically done at a much higher value and for a lonegr duration if the cable is above 600V.
