I have used beams and springs to simulate fasteners. I would second the fact that you get unrealisticly high stress locally for the situation you are recreating; but if for load transfer only ,that is the ticket.

In the Nastran editor, go to setup-->default settings. It should become quite clear where to click.
Update to date code M110. M80 is buggy.
Be aware that you are trading one set of bugs for another.

I work for a mid-sized company that recently brought the engineering (me and 2 others) in house. It has been my duty to incoporate a structural analysis and physical testing process on all products. (Front-end loaders, Backhoes, R.O.P.S., etc.)

Does anybody know of any cheap viewers. more specifically, a 2d .dwg with the ability to measure. It is for a gie in the shop who doesnt need anything fancy just viewing with measurement. Any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.
