Has anyone used domestic water main as a heat sink for a water source

Toronto has a system that uses domestic water (AFTER it bas been treated) to cool a chilled water loop via plate and frame heat exchangers. They ensure a leak in a Hx will not contaminate the water in the domestic system by keeping the pressure higher on the domestic side (per an engineer with...

Carrier HAP program - data entry

I opened it. It looks like more trouble than it's worth to mess with. I don't know why you enter everything in excel first. I measure from a drawing as I input directly into hap and sometimes outline the space and write the square footage on the drawing for reference. Haven't had a problem.

    Personnl Computers Heat Rejection

I use 300W for computers in a dorm or office and not a high end workstation with large monitor and large power supply. I use 500W for them. ASHRAE numbers are really low so i just guessed.

    Interior Conference Rooms

The ventilation of multiple spaces calculation in ashrae will combine those two OA ratios and set the outside air requirement at your unit.

    industrial wood shop DC

Just some random toughts from reading this.... Don't forget a duct leakage test in the specs. Heavy and wet sawdust has a transport velocity of 4000-4500 fps in the handbook. Ive done similar systems and used a blast gate in each drop and a bleed-in damper at the end of the header.

    multi-thermostate in one zone

If you have a DDC system you can use multiple thermostats and control all the units based on the worst case/average temperature in the zone.

    Ventilation - Intermittent Occupancy

Look at ASHRAE 62 addendum n for new ventilation requirements.

    Ventilation - Intermittent Occupancy

I believe ASHRAE says to use the average occupancy of the space but not less than 1/2 of the ventilation required for the space. Also, what state are you in? ASHRAE 62 has a bunch of addednda that you might be required to use. One change is the way you figure out required ventilation air.
