From the post the tank has been in service. What is the service, what has been in the tank? Why are they wanting to "activate and passivate" the tank. Contents and duty of the tank will have some influence on the chemicals and procedure to be used.

Looking at similar appliction for horizontal drag of waste. Controls to put in place are reliable overload cut out switch, so the cable cannot be overloaded to break point. Also consider if the cable/attachment point/hook does fail what will be the trajectory of hte cable as it springs off the...
Hyemi,
what is pipe material you are trying to remove the scale from and what is the fluid in the pipe? I have had variable success using brush pigs for removal of Jarrosite from mineral liquour lines. Low pH and lots of free iron.

Sounds like you have a procedure for isolation, lock out pumps and valves etc. Does any one perform a depressurisation check and indeed is the isolation challenged for potentially "bottling up" a section of line. Where there is hazardous liquid some insist upon double block with a bleed between...
The OP must provide more information, as Controlsdude has asked, what is the purpose for the switching? This will determine class and reliability of the switch.
Also range of the measurement is ir 27 mm Hg or 27" Hg very diferent measurement accuracy needed.

Just love the mixed units, imperial and metric. A minor point but what is hte feed temperature and expected outlet temperature of the mixture?

The process is the issue if some welders are passing and others are not. What specifically is the material, and where are the failures occuring? Is it pitting, in weld material, in parent or HAZ? Good quality background informatin gets best answers!

Dchu129,
In the description of the process you do not mention any cleaning step. What cutting fluids are used and are they removed prior to the electropolish and passivation. Also what material are you working with.

Fats, oils and a high pH is a typical saponification reaction. I have had traces of milk in a high pressure boiler that generated similar results. The black may simply be from burnt protiens. Nothing nasty was precipitated out and the foaming settled down with minor change to treatment ratios...
Been busy on other items lately! Safetyranger I am quite familliar with the LOTO systems where a tag can only be removed by the person applying it. I apreciate the issues associated with that. My suggestion is to realy to leave the equipment in an isolated state perhaps with out a tag on it or...
djou,
I would recomend a heat sanitisation, I suspect that you have a bio film. The issue here is that wiht chemical sanitisation only the top layer is killed. it then comes away and a new fresh live layer is revealed. a good heat soak will penetrate the colonies. Good luck.

I would ask "why not leave it locked out?" The next operation on the press is to load the next die (it will need to be isolated for that) or a maintenance service (it will need to be locked out for that). If testing is required the isolation can be lifted for testing then re isolated after...

Now you are just taking the piss. It is hard to get people to take you seriously when you talk about pigging as it is! Great post though!
-breakfast sausage: conform to BS standard?

Why not make the transition in the cyclone inlet to a circular flange in the vessel rather than making the first spool the transition? I am assuming that you are somewhere connection to a round duct!

Have designed built and successfully operated a similar system. Ammonia chilled water system, return water chiller at -1C and an ice tank at -10C. The compressor suction pressure was run at the lower temperature/pressure and a back pressure modulating valve was used to ensure the return water...
what material is the PW circuit made from. It does sound like you have a bio film problem. With a bio film chemical sanitisation will generally only kill the top layer, the dead layer will protect the underlying layer. This layer will sloth off and the live cells will present again. Try heat...
