    Custom Properties

In our title blocks, we have a block for "sheets". Currently we use $PRP:"SW-Current Sheet" OF $PRP:"SW-Total Sheets" On our sheetmetal drawings, on the last sheet we place a flat pattern that we use to create a DXF. We even label the last sheet "DXF". We really don't want SolidWorks to count...

Sheet metal bends from an internal cut-out

I tried the miter flange. Got a message "The sketch is not suitable for the miter flange. Am trying the Edge flange. Will let you know if it works.

Sheet metal bends from an internal cut-out

I am trying to create a sheet metal model of a part with flanges formed from a rectangular cut-out in the center of the part. The corners of the flanges are 45 degrees. If I use an edge flange, I can only do opposite sides of the rectangle. When the other flanges are added, SolidWorks can't...

Putting laser slits in solid parts

We tried doing as MadMango suggested, placing the sketch segments on the part face, and it works. The only problem is, some of the laser slits are on the bend lines, and when you hide them, all are hidden, even the ones you want on the drawing. We just recreated them on the drawing. aamoroso...

Putting laser slits in solid parts

We do a lot of sheet metal parts with small (.10") laser slits on bends that will be formed by hand in the shop at assembly. Any ideas on how to insert the single line slits in the solid sheet metal parts? We don't want to create a rectangle or narrow obround because the laser would want to go...

    Unroll a tube

I used the "Creating Sheet Metal Parts with Cylindrical Faces" and added the holes (over 200) in the flat. The file is very large and slow to flatten and form (re-roll).

    DXF to SolidWorks Sheetmetal Part

I am importing a .dxf of a sheet metal part into SolidWorks 2005. I can create a solid of the .dxf, but am having trouble adding bends. How do I turn the solid into a sheet metals part? We have a lot of legacy data in .dxf format that will eventually need to be converted to SolidWorks, so any...

    Weld Beads

I am trying to add weld symbols to a SolidWorks sheetmetal part that has the sides folded up and the corners welded. I can't insert a weld bead on this part. Does anyone have a solution or a work-around to get the SolidWorks weld symbols into my drawing?
