How to wire 4 pole reversible single phase motor

Ah the 2 extra black leads are the actual capacitor leads whereas I thought they were provided to add a second cap (as per the illustration). I made the connections and everything is working well. Now all I have to do is design the control circuit. : )

How to wire 4 pole reversible single phase motor

Thanks for the help guys. That makes sense to me Mort. There is not a brown wire, so it is the top schematic (non AC65). My only question now is what I do with the black wire from the motor. I think the cap is internal on this motor so I'm not really even sure why they provide this lead. In...

How to wire 4 pole reversible single phase motor

I'm trying to figure out how to wire a motor so that it can go either forward or reverse via switch and contactor. I am much more familiar with wiring 3 wire motors. Basically i'm confused on where to wire the neutral, and my hot lead. Thanks in advance! Here is the motor info...

    Needed: 5 seconds of AC

Thank you, this information is invaluable. I don't think I can use the coil-lock relays, they are around $100. The event that power is lost is an extremely rare occurence for when the motor operates, which is only about 15 seconds to a minute every day. I will attempt to change to a 24V DC...

    Needed: 5 seconds of AC

Wow, you all act fast! Thank you. Well, I will explain a couple more things, because I don't think the dampers would quite fit well. First, the solenoid drops out due to gravity, it is mounted vertically. There are no springs. Next, the solenoid in my application must retract immediately...

    Needed: 5 seconds of AC

Hello all, I hope you can help me with this. I'm running a motor, and when I lose power I have a mechanical lock with a solenoid design. If I lose power, the solenoid drops and hits a cam on the motor's shaft. Normally this doesn't happen while the motor will be running. But if the motor is...

    Super Capacitor Questions

I have questions on the lifetime of EDLC's, or electric double layer capacitors. I've read several data sheets online from suppliers but don't have an accurate description of their life. Most give + or - some value after 1000 hours of operation. Does this just drop the capacitance if operated...

RELAY THAT ACTIVATES ITS SWITCH WHEN POWER IS REMOVED?

sorry, try going from here with a request for quote: http://www.turck-usa.com/products/relays/index.htm i'd select the 120 Vac relay, it has either NO or NC contacts, as pretty much all single pole relays do. -dude

RELAY THAT ACTIVATES ITS SWITCH WHEN POWER IS REMOVED?

www.releco.com cheap little plastic relays, around $10 if you're able to get one or try www.digikey.com. -dude

    DC relays and contactors

It depends on the application I suppose. Two good manufacturers are: Siemens Sirius Contactors Allen Bradley They seem to work well for industrial applications. -dude

    Ac/Dc Common?

Hmmm, unique and interesting solutions, but the cost savings are important too. Thanks for the advice though. I wonder if anyone makes a dpdt single break lever type snap switch, or something like it. I've looked but to no avail. This switch would have 2C, 2NC, and 2NO (6 terms) and I could...

    Ac/Dc Common?

Thank you Bill. I was hoping to avoid the extra use of relays but that seems to be the best solution for my design. I have never done controls wiring, so this advise has been a much appreciated.

    Ac/Dc Common?

Thank you both for your quick replies. In response to buzz, there is no isolation to the input. I agree that the input may need need filtered someway, but once the switch activates it will be open for a long period of time ( > 1 sec). I was just worried that this may be damaging in some way...

    Ac/Dc Common?

Stupid question probably I am using a 120 ac single phase motor, a NC switch opens when a cam hits. I want to use the NO part of the switch to ground an input to a microcontroller (24 Vdc). What implications are there if the common part of the switch is tied to the Vdc- and AC neutral of the...
