Hi All,
The snip of Appendix-44 (i) is given below.
In this context what is meant by "centroid of the ring"? Is it the centroid of the ring structural crosssection or centroid of the ring itself? What is an example of a structural discountinuity mentioned here? Is a longitudinal shell weld...
If you want cool down your sperical tank before introducing Liquid CO2 try to introduce gaseous nitrogen slowly at low temprature first to cool down the tank so that when the liquid CO2is introduced, there will not be any cold shock for the tank.
You should have liquid relief valves on the tank...
Hi friends,
We are trying to locate manufacturers who can supply sleeves (see the attached file) for the nozzles of mounded storage bullets as per EEMUA-190.
If anyone here knows such manufacturers, plese guide me.

Dear Friends,
Why is embedded length not a factor in calculating the size of pressure vessel anchor bolts?
Is there a method to calculate required length of anchor bolt when the foundation is made of structural steel and not concrete?
Kind Regards,
Ranjit
@DriveMeNuts
Yes, we are mainly concerned about the costs related addional inspection and tests.
Will it be acceptable to conduct a leak test for the vacuum jacket in line with UG-99 (f)(2) in lieu of a hydrostatic test?
@EdStainless
There are safety heads on the vacuum jacket sized as per...
Cryogenic pressure vessels are double walled with outer jcakets fully enveloping the inner vessel. The annular space between the inner and outer vessels is fully vaccumized and filled with expanded perlite. In a normal case the external pressure on the jecket is 15 psig or less. As per Appendix-...
Pantlegs are like sleeve pipes welded to the outer shell. One end of it is closed with a flat plate or cone through which the annular space piping connected to inner vessel nozzle comes out.
Hi All,
As per 2011 addenda of Div-2, the following detial 4.2.10.8 is not readily radiographable. However, in recent editions of Div-2 , it (Detail 4.2.10.7) is readily radiographable. What could be the reason for the change?
Regards,
I don't know whether this would help depending on the configuration of the holes.
You can try welding threadolets/ threaded coupling to the header and hydrotest. Then remove the plugs after hydrotest.
Regards
Hi LittleInch,
Happy to answer those questions.
Outer Vessel Design Pressure: 15 psi(g) external, 0 psi(g) internal.
Inner Vessel Calculation Pressure: Internal design pressure + 15 psi(g) to account for the external vacuum.
Safety heades are provided on outer vessel sized according to CGA 341...
Our company design and manufacture these type of horizonal ethylene cryogenic storage tanks. We have supplied many such tanks to our US clients.
What GBTorpenhow and jt1234 described is correct. To add to that, the inner vessel is supported on the outer vessel at the saddle locatios by using...
Hi Fellow Engineers
I have come across the weld detial given below.
Is it mandatory to provide an internal projection for the nozzle at the location marked with red arrow to have a minimum fiillet weld of size tc? Or is ok to increase the fillet weld size from zero at this location to a...
ASME SEC VIII Div 2, Para 4.19.2(g) states that "The length of the cylindrical shell on each side of the bellows shall not be less than 1.8√(Dsts)". While starting point for measurement of this length is provided by fig 4.19.2, the ending point of measurement of this legth is not clear. Is the...
Hi BJI and IdanPV,
Thanks for your inputs.
From your replies can I conclude that while it is allowed to use Appendix-46.3(design by rule) to design the components of a Division 1 pressure vessel when design rules exist in Division 1, it is prohibited to use Appendix 46-4(design by analysis) for...
Is it an intent of code paragraph U-2(g)(1)(-a) to exclude the use of Appendix 46 to design the components of a Division 1 pressure vessel when design rules exist in Division 1?
