    Scale Factors Paper Space

I'm sorry. I misspoke in my last post. If a unit is 10', then I draw it 120 units. I was having issues determing the scale for print.

    Scale Factors Paper Space

Thanks. I got it now. I always just drew everything to scale and didn't worry about the scale when printing it. I'm dealing with some vendors now that don't even use CAD or email...when I give them drawings they want to know the scale. Tell your daughter there is no better place to go to...

    Scale Factors Paper Space

Thanks everyone. I'm still having trouble grasping this for some reason. When I look at the properties of the viewport, I see "custom". This is basically due to zooming out enough that I get the entire drawing. If I change that scale factor for the viewport to (1/8" = 1') for instance, I do...

    Scale Factors Paper Space

Thanks. If I do have 1 viewport, plotting on a D-size, what would the scale be? I do select 1:1.

    Scale Factors Paper Space

What is the scale for a D-size drawing when I do the layout in model space at a 1:1 ratio? What is the appropriate notation in the title block?

    Belt and Chain Conveyor Design

Thanks. I've read the Hytrol book, and I'm familiar with layouts and basic parts of various types of conveyors. I'm just not sure of stuff like when to use an end-drive motor or whether the motor should be on the discharge or infeed end or even what type of motor is best (TEFC vs. TENV 1 HP...

    Belt and Chain Conveyor Design

I've recently started a new job and it's great. My new job consists of doing layouts and engineering systems. The one problem I'm having is there is no training what so ever and I'm the only technical person in the company. I am being asked to problem solve some conveyor issues...but I have...

    Sizing motors - Help

Thanks for the information. I do appreciate it all. Like I said, I'm a far cry from being an EE....or undrestanding motors.

    Sizing motors - Help

Thanks! I think I just learned more in 15 minutes then I did in a whole semester of Physics.

    Sizing motors - Help

Wow. Thanks a lot! One more follow up, if there's no difference b/w 110/115/117/120, then why are there those designations?

    Inch equivalent in MM?

You could also use the convert function: =CONVERT(E6,"in","mm") Where cell E6 would contain the number you want to convert from inch to mm.

    Sizing motors - Help

Wow. Thank you once more. I feel very dumb when talking about electricity. Is there a "laymens" description of phases? Is 3 phase more energy efficient that 1 phase? Thanks again.

    Sizing motors - Help

Thanks David... 99.9% of the motors I'm looking at are 1/2 HP to 1 HP. I'm a little confused what is the difference between 110V, 115V and 120 VAC. Also, what is a phase? Why would you sepcify 120 over 240 or 460? Is that just dependant on what type of electricy is running into the...

    Sizing motors - Help

One more part to the question....which is better. DC or AC? I have a very crude basic understanding of the difference.

    Sizing motors - Help

Hi, I'm far from being an EE and I don't try to be one. I recently took a new position where I'm recommending machinery for warehouses and part of the job is recommending motors. I do have some help available to me through vendors, but I want to be able to speak reasonably intelligently with...
