Cross slope at off-street Parking Lot

Some municipalities have standards on the minimum cross slope for the off-street parking lot. Some have minimum 2% cross slope at the parking lot. Is this for a drainage purpose? I think minimum 2% cross slope is relatively high for shopping center parking lots to use "shopping carts". What...

    Galvanized Storm Drain Inlet

Thanks for your responses. The storm inlet type is "Combination Inlet:Catch basin + Curb opening hood". Sometimes "Asphalt Paint" is used for all exposed parts of the inlet instead of Galvanized. I don't know what the best option in Northern California.

    Galvanized Storm Drain Inlet

When I review Standard Details for local Governments, I see that some storm drain inlets are galvanized and others are not. What would be the difference between galvanized frame/hood and non-galvanized in terms of cost, maintenance, etc.? The galvanized storm drain inlet unit is better and...

Permanent Sediment Control for a Huge Dirt Lot

I have a project with a 15-acre dirt lot in an industrial area. There will be a direct discharge (e.g., catch basin) at the lowest point but the sediment control is a big concern for this big dirt lot (The site is flat though). I think that a simple filter in the catch basin can't resolve this...

    Flow Velocity in RCP

The minimum velocity of 2 fps - 3 fps shall be maintained as a self-cleaning velocity for storm drainage system. In a County, the design criteria for flow velocity is 2 fts and 3 fps for full and half-full flow conditions, respectively. Does this mean that we can assume full pipes with free...

Useful? - Forced Main for Storm Drain System

Are there any problems to design "force main" for a main storm drain system for several commercial sites? Several commercial sites have their own storm drain basins with pump stations. (Existing Situations) 1. There are several local basins with pump stations 2. Each pump discharges stormwater...

Tie into 24" Storm Force Main

The storm drain system from the new development site should be connected to the existing 24" Storm Force Main. What is the most critical point for designing this? The storm pipe from the new site is 6" (force main as well). There would be some pressure issues at the point of interest. Can I...
