Grounding of a full height rotating turnstile

Excellent product suggestions, 7anoter4! Thank you very much for the links-I was not familiar with these devices.

Modern Power System Protection Training Course

I have not attended any of the University of Wisconsin courses, but I have heard good things about them. I took a web-based course from Gonzaga University that was pretty good. They have a good selection of 3-credit courses that run about $2500 each and I think they are all 8-weeks long. You can...

Grounding of a full height rotating turnstile

I recently received a request to provide grounding specifications and detail drawings for several new cantilever gates and several new full height rotating turnstiles at a power plant. I have found enough information on several options for grounding the cantilever gates, but I have found nothing...

O/C Relay Settings For Arc Flash

If you have a large motor or a group of motors downstream, you could nuisance trip the relay if the motor or group of motors start up while the relay is in the maintenance setting. For this reason, the relay's instantaneous maintenance setting should be set higher than the expected motor inrush...

Need Help Finding a Westinghouse CO relay Curve (1271071-A)

You're correct in stating that it is an old relay. I have a cross reference sheet that lists the old serial numbers and the approximate equivalent using the new numbering scheme. Your relay has a definite time curve similar to a CO-6 relay (serial no. 1875244). The relay serial numbers can be...

CT accuracy at very low load

The meter is only for internal plant use, so dead-nuts accuracy is not required. I just wanted to make sure it would give readings that aren't nonsense. The relaying performance will have to be evaluated at a later date when we actually get a P.O. for coordination. The stuff I just did was a...

CT accuracy at very low load

New info...ITI technical support says that they can extrapolate the performance at 3% of rating to be similar to the performance of 10% of rating, or +/- 0.6%. They can only test down to 5%. Not bad for having a load that is down in the dirt.

CT accuracy at very low load

Howdy all, Does anyone know how an ITI model 780 600:5 CT will perform at very low load - such as 3% of rating? A customer has this CT installed in a metering and overcurrent relaying application and they will not take a bus shutdown to change it to a lower ratio CT. They plan on installing a...

    ETAP PowerStation Sequence of Operations

Thanks. That was my take on it also. The clearing times that were reported seemed almost arbitrary when evaluated manually using TCCs and breaker opening times. I wasn't sure if the problem was arising simply because I had a system with Schweitzer multifunction relays and several levels of...

    Utility Short Circuit Data Proprietary?

I have typically handled utility requests by letting the customer request the information from their utility contact. Of course, for smaller customers, they may not have an individual contact but just the generic customer service call number. I agree that utilities are becoming more and more...

    ETAP PowerStation Sequence of Operations

All right everyone, here's a pretty focused question. Has anyone out there had much experience with the new Sequence of Operations module in ETAP PowerStation? This module is supposed to allow you to simulate a fault (3-phase or line-to-ground) anywhere in a system model and it will evaluate...
