    Relief capacity partially underground tank

The liquid transfer line are running over the tanks. A pool can be formed adjacent to the tank head. A dozen tanks are connected with a vent header (DN100) with pressure control valve to a cryogenic unit. I would not expect much relief either, but can I use the equations used for thermal...

    Relief capacity partially underground tank

I have a tankfarm with several tanks partially underground. Only the top klopper head with the manhole an nozzles is above ground. Is fire case a credible scenario and how to calculate the relief rate? In my opinion fire case is a credible scenario an I thought to calculate the effective...

Adding sodium to an atmospheric reactor filled with liquid ammonia

I'm looking for a safe altenative to add several kiligrams of solid sodium to a batch reactor filled with ammonia (-33°C). Currently the operator is adding several bars of sodium through a manhole. We would like to have a closed system, but without the risk sodium is left behind or gets chopped...

    Design minimum flow line

I was trying to find out if there were any rules of thumb on minimum flow protection. dickon17 is right about the information I gave about my problem is not sufficient to get to a good fundamented sollution. There is an expansion needed of the current condensate supply in the plant, because...

    Design minimum flow line

We are planning to install a VSD to control the discharge pressure. Is this wise in this situation?

    Design minimum flow line

The pump will be a new pump in an existing plant. This pump will supply to several end consumers, which will not always require feed. Hence the flowrate has a wide range and the discharge pressure is almost the same. The pump will be pumping from an atmospheric tank of 55 m3.

    Design minimum flow line

Even with a VSD is the minimum flow required lower than the minimum flow of the pump. Therefore a minimum flow line is required. Maximum flow is 180m³/h and minimum is 20m³/h with almost same discharge head.

    Design minimum flow line

In my opinion you have three options for minimum flow protectin. 1. minimum flow line with orifice 2. minimum flow line with control valve 3. minimum flow line with automatic return valve. When do you decide which type of minimum flow protection is the best?

    Install shell tube exchanger vertical

I have cooling water on the shell side and gas (200°C - 40°C) in the tubes. The complete heat exchangers are CS.

    Install shell tube exchanger vertical

Is it possible to install all shell and tube exchangers vertical. To save space I would like to mount 3 exchangers (1x CEP, 1x AEM, 1x BEV) vertical instead of horizontal. I noticed that the drain and vent nozzles have a wrong location. But is it mechanically possible? What are other points I...

    Flexible pipe connection

I was thinking of swivel joints, but maybe someone else has a better solution.

    Flexible pipe connection

I'm looking for the possibility of flexible connections to a gas header for a compressor test facility. As not all the compressors have the same layout, the positions of the suction and discharge lines differ. Instead of welding new pipes with flanges each time we are now looking for flexible...
