Thanks for the links. General polygon and stoffel polygon seem to be the only people this side of the big water.
It is a straight P-3 polygon.

I need to machine the male end of a polygon shaft coupling on the end of a shaft about 25" long. The length of the polygon is 1". Anyone have any knowledge of the type and cost of a machine to do this? Perhaps a cam grinder?
Thanks,
Bob Farmer
We do magnetic bearings and high speed starter-generators. We were just looking to lighten our work load if a suitable unit were available.
Thanks again,

Thanks to all who responded. We however have reached the same conclusion as UKpete. No one seems to have what we need off the shelf and if one is to be built specifically for this project we will do that in house.

Our company will soon be testing components that will go in a jet engine. The test rig will be run at 36,000 RPM by a 40 HP electric drive. 40,000 RPM electric motors are quite expensive. Could this be done with a speed increasing gear box? There are several possible combinations of motor...
I need a source for air bearing design information. I need to incorporate one in a test stand. The bearing will be designed by someone else but I must allow for it in the overall design. Don't overload me just air bearing 101 maybe 201.
Thanks
