    IDI diesel efficiency

This has been discesed on the http://vwdiesel.net/ forums quite a bit. One thing is the shape of the pre-chanber and size varances on the same head. We have also talked about making a insert to make the size of the pre-chamber. out put port and cost factors. Several people were working on this...

    Diesel EFI vs Gas EFI

Not that I am looking to do multishot injection. Richard

    Diesel EFI vs Gas EFI

MS You are correct, except it shows something that can be done with a diesel EFI. That was my point, but as usual I get ahead of my typing, as compaired to what I am thinking *>)And that is rereading my post before posting I think the cummings uses 5. Thanks MS for your input. Richard

MYT engine -- anyone heard of it?

Rudolph Diesel's first engines were run off coal dust. He finally went to a liquid fuel to fix some of the "running" problems of the engine. They may have worked it out. I will go read the paper next. RIchard

heating fuel lines with 12 volts

I was going to ask if you were running veggie fuel. Biodiesel is like diesel and doesnt need that BUT biodiesel is more comp;ated to make. I have heard of people using a glow plug to heat small fuel tank like a acuminlator used in gas VW's. I can not see how this would help the fuel in the...

    Diesel EFI vs Gas EFI

The new Cummins engines in the Dodge trucks use a multi-squirt (pilot) injetion to quiet them down. The new "design" had to pass the "Wendys" test. That is where you can go to a fast food place, and order at the drive though and NOT have to shut the truck off. They could have made it quiter, but...

    Diesel EFI vs Gas EFI

Rob: It is Probably a exercise in futility. I am one of those people that think there must be a way to do something. I hate to let some thing "beat me". I have a diesel & automotive back ground as a Pontiac-GMC dealer mechanic, and then moving on to the big trucks. But when I almost starved...

    Diesel EFI vs Gas EFI

Paul etal: The megasquirt is fine for gasoling setups that can use a batch system. It can be run with out some of those sensors but it doesn't matter as we are talking a diesel. I have used the megasquirt on several Gasoline(petrol) engines. While I am sure their are tons of used parts, but...

    Diesel EFI vs Gas EFI

It would be TD based. Most aftermarked FI uses PWM to control fuel delivery. I have built and Installed several Megsquirt (dyi) EFI units. These are not suitable because they are batch fire injection. Like a the old style VW Type3-4 ystem and 914 system,Djet, Ljet plus tons of euro cars. Richard

    Diesel EFI vs Gas EFI

I don't know. I think they both use the same too to lock the pump timing in place when doing some work on the engine, like replacing the head. I will have to check it out. It is pre CRD, the pumps supply high pressure to the injecors. From whit I have heard A TDI pump can be converted to a pure...

    Diesel EFI vs Gas EFI

TDI uses a sensor on # 3 injector for timing, = boost sensor, MAF, and normal GAS type sensors. Fuel pressure not a problem. It is getting harder and harder to find good parts for thhese older diesels. Fuel Injection Pump are getting wore out that the good pump cores are hard to find. Junk...

    Diesel EFI vs Gas EFI

Pre chamber bushing pics I will have to look for a TDI head if someone need it.

    Diesel EFI vs Gas EFI

I didnt make that clear.I am talking about the ECU. The Injectors would be in the same position in the head as before. IDI injection system with mechnical injection adapted to electronic. Aftermarket ECU's would be easy to use for this setup if the would work. VW 4 cylinder IDI system like on...

    Diesel EFI vs Gas EFI

What makes a Diesel EFI system more complex (accurate) than a Gas-Petrol EFI? I have been told that a gas EFI system doesn't provide the Accuracy required for a Diesel EFI. I just don't see it. Thanks Richard

What to use as CRD fuel rail Material?

I found a good site with very good informatin and pipe-tube size, burst pressure, wall thickness, inside diameter. Using Barlows Formual: theoretical bluging pressure= 2(yeld strenth)t/2 theoretical bursting pressure= 2(tensile strenth)t/d t=Wall thickness d=outside diameter. I did not book...

What to use as CRD fuel rail Material?

Mike Halloran I could copy the DuraMax fuel rail. It is the basic size engine of 6.6l if I remember correctly. This is larger then my 5.7l but would be closer to the 6.2l and 6.5l engines. I was also thinking of trying to use steel mechnical IP line but I will need to check the pressure. I...

What to use as CRD fuel rail Material?

I have been looking for information on the DuraMax fuel system but I have not found anything. I have been busy with Hurricane Rita, while it missed me, we did move back into our house which we are selling, but living in a 36 ft 5th wheel TT. We are back home after going to help some friends...

What to use as CRD fuel rail Material?

I will be working V8 engines, of around 6l - 6.5l I should be using a external driver board on the injection system to isolate the ECU from high current loads. That way all I should loose is the driver board. I am in SE Texas where we have a lot of oil field equipment, and there should be a...

What to use as CRD fuel rail Material?

What to use as CRD fuel rail Material?

Just checked my faq's again, and 900bar is what the TDI is using.
