Hi Brad
Yes and no (but mainly no). We did get plugged in using RSLinx Classic and learned that one of the adjacent i/o modules was faulty, when we eventually got a replacement we found that the plc now runs (run light on, no fault light) although the ride still doesn't operate due to...
Yes Brad I think you are right, I'm slowly going up the learning curve. djs - we do have an electronic copy, as soon as I can get on the ride I can try reinstalling failing all else.
Thanks for the replies folks
Thanks A, think it is the right manual. The mode switch is in the run position and it initially runs then stops. Having to wait a week now before I can get back onto the ride with a laptop.
Thanks for the replies. I did remove all the modules and put them back with no success.
There is a devicenet module displaying 0080, see pic, and I assumed that this was an error message for the plc (it says address/error above it) but I think I was mistaken. So I have now got a programming...
Hi, this is a novice area for me. Have an old fairground ride with this AB ML1500 plc, the fault light has started flashing, displayed fault code is 0080. Looked this up on-line and it stated that the terminator module is disconnected. It definitely isn't and looks fine!
Is it worth trying a new...
Hi, my limited experience with RTDs in electrical machines is that they aren't screened or twisted because they don't really need to be for they have high noise immunity. When fitting them inside a manufactured generator winding we were told by an RTD supplier that the screen wasn't necessary...
Hello Drivesrock.
My dc motors background is in traction motors - these are similarly rated to yours (but not with so many brushes - commutators don't like running with brushes at low current density, the surface film gets worn away). Ventilation is either forced, by an external blower, or...
As an aside, the rail traction people know all about load sharing of motors - all the motors being coupled via the wheels. In the old days of dc traction motors (not that long ago) it was a particular problem and great care had to be taken to adjust individual motor airgaps so that the load was...

You don't say what type of lamination steel you are looking at, but if you look at the Surahammars Bruk website (they are part of Cogent), on the datasheets they give the specific loss at 50/100/200/400...Hz. I would have thought you could draw a curve and estimate the loss for 125Hz...
You could also try something like Castrol Rustilo DWX30 (or similar), which is a very thin brush-on rust prevention fluid that I have seen used, this would get into the slots. I believe there are also spray-on rust preventers, although I have no experience of them.
A wound stator is normally dipped or impregnated with a resin such as an oven-curing epoxy, and this suffices to protect the stator laminations.
It is also common to apply a polymer coating, usually referred to as an anti-tracking varnish (because of its resistance to electrical tracking across...
Hello Keith, I'm a railfan too!
I have done performance calculations on battery-electric shunting locomotives, you need to ask the battery supplier for the internal resistance characteristic (versus load and depth of discharge), as well as the regular discharge characteristic.
On the question...
Serge, sorry about the delay in replying (haven't had my computer on as I'm heavily commited to watching the world cup).
Having looked at the link, yes the method is absolutely correct, though is it easy to automate? At each sample time, the oscillator has to be varied until the correct...
Hello ssozonoff, I don't see how it can be an LVDT if there are only two wires. Four are needed, or three if it has built-in electronics.
Maybe it is a simple inductive sensor. Of course there are instruments that directly measure the inductance, as for measuring it approximately with simple...
magneticted, the link below has been quoted on this forum a while ago and gives a good comparison although it doesn't go beyond frame size 445T.

The site I frequently recommend is Brook Crompton (UK company), because their pdf...
waross, I agree. I think you are less likely to damage the motor with a higher voltage because it will start more quickly.
Incidentally, back in the old days I could judge the condition of my battery by listening to the starter. On my latest car when the battery was fading there was no...

This is a bit strange. You are obviously talking about a single-phase motor because you mention the capacitor, and the 110V 1.5kW 20A rating is consistent with a single-phase motor. But the terminal markings U1,V1,W1 etc. are for an IEC (European) three-phase motor.
Please supply the...
bigbill, is it true that with a fan load the current goes up if the voltage goes up (assuming fixed frequency)? I accept that there will be a slight decrease in slip, and the fan power will go up by the cube of fan speed, but enough to make it draw more current at the higher voltage?
Of...
