    Part Configurations and Crashes

Hi, We are having an issue with creating new configurations. It seems that if I have a part open for a while, SolidWorks will crash when I try to create a new part configuration. We have seen this with both 2010 and 2013. We are currently running 2013. We are running a separate server for...

    Balloon Issue - SW2010

Hi Dustin, That sounded easy enough - and like the culprit. Didn't work though. I have had to manually create and number balloons for this drawing. I have never had this happen before. Thanks for your help. JW

    Balloon Issue - SW2010

Hi all, I am having an issue with balloons on an ISO view assembly drawing: When I add balloons to the exploded view, some of the balloons attach to the correct part and show the correct BOM number. When I try to add balloons to the lower half of the assembly, SW can not find and link the...

"Global" part properties for flat patterns

    Drawing Formats v. Drawing Templates

qbui, I believe, that if your drawing template is referencing model parameters - you won't have this problem. Try adding a model parameter like "DESCRIPTION" and then have the format call "&description" - and see what happens. Best of luck. cheers, JW

    Bolt Circle on a Drawing

markbreneman, You can create a datum curve in your model. Change the linestyle in your drawing to match the drafting standard that you are using. You can also rotate the the hole axii to match the BC. Hope this helps. Cheers, JW

Need help placing a group of holes

Brandon, We use release 2001 - but perhaps this will help. For the patterned holes: Redefine / To Table This will create a pattern table that you can edit. You can adjust x,y, coordinates, angle, hole dia., skip instance etc. To pattern the group; Make the holes that you want to attach the...

    Filters and Relations

rgeiss, Here is a relation that lives in our assembly drawing format: If asm_mbr_bulk_item==yes Qty=”AS REQ.” Else qty=rpt_qty END IF The relation looks at each part in the assembly. The relation then checks the value of bulk_item - this is a parameter in all of our models. Any item with...

    Modeling Bend Kink

PRuggiero, In release 2001, there was a feature called "spinal bend". You could do some nice plastic hinge design with it. I don't know if this will help..... Cheers, JW

    Dimensioning

onlyforyou, Try this: 1. Create a dimension between the centres of the two arcs. Use the "center" dim option. 2. Create a cosmetic centreline or centrelines in your drawing. Use the arc geometry as snap references. 3. Move the created dimension so that it appears to be coming off of the...

CheckerRon, In 2001, the functionality you are looking for was in: File > New > Markup. I don't use Wildfire but, you might have a look there anyways. Cheers, JW
