    Forces acting on component

I know the weight of the roll so from this i can get the force when the roll is descending. im after forces on the bolts of the clevis bracket that lifts the roll! the bending moment from the inertia force on the roll causes the bolts to fail, so im after this force on them.

    Forces acting on component

Hi guys, im trying to find the bending moment and forces acting on 4 bolts of a clevis bracket. just to give you a brief description of the assembly. there are 2 clevis brackets each fixed to a slider with 4 bolts, the slider is connected to a roll. the clevis bracket is connected to a...

    obtaining force/displacement values?

i have an accelerometer which displays the voltage amplitude over time. is there a simple way to convert these units to force or something more useful?

    obtaining force/displacement values?

yes the stress concern occurs at the end of the fall. the brackets come to a rest due to the piston of the pneumatic cylinder bottoming out!! they problem occurs where the inertia force of the roll on descend causes a bending force on the clevis brackets. what data will the accelorometer...

    obtaining force/displacement values?

Hi all, im currently involved in the redesign of a major component at our plant and am required to gather data on the forces acting on the machinery. the piece of equiptment is a roller which is pneumatically powered to rise and lift a sheet and then fall via quick exhaust acting as a quick...

    shearing bolts

thank you all for the feedback. we are currently using grade 8.8 bolts but will upgrade to a 10.9/12.9. the problem in the design is no specific calculation was made for the bolt loadings, it was simply stated that M16X30 bolts are to be used. we carry these bolts in stock in the stores...

    shearing bolts

yes M16 x 30mm long bolts we are slightly upgrading to a M18. we will increase the moment radius through increasing the spacing by moving the upper bolts higher above the area where the stress in concentrated.

    shearing bolts

thanks for the feedback. structurally we are increasing the distance between the bolts to reduce the force on the bolts. although i was curious to whether there were an obvious bolt upgrade i may have missed besides a larger/stronger bolt.

    shearing bolts

Hi all, we are curently using M16 X 30 UNC Mildsteel bolts which continue to shear due to a bending moment on the beam and clevis bracket they are connecting. has anyone got any ideas on bolt upgrades to a more ductile material? and any other helpful information? regards

    upcut shear Accumulator roll information

hi all, does anyone know of any information on past redesigns of accumulator rolls used in the metal industry? im after past thesesis, research journals or books. this is required for a literature review. regards.
