I see the additional ASTM spec that it is calling for that defines the post plating process information. I know what you are talking about, I have a big mess to clean up from years of sloppy engineering pratices so I am trying to get the best information that I can and also educate...
I need some clarity on when Hydrogen Embrittlement should be a concern. ASTM B633 states that "All electroplated steel parts having a tensile strength greater than 1000 MPa (31 HRc).... shall be baked to reduce the risk of hydrogen embrittlement." If I have a 1045 sheet metal plate which...
Thanks for all the information. RR-C-271D seems to have some information. B30 seems to be for hoisting and rigging which is not the intended use for my parts so I'm not sure if it is applicable.
I work in the logistics and transportation industry. Does any on know of a standard the governs the hooks that are used on chains. The NACM seems to only have information on chains and nothing on the end hooks. Specifically I am looking to verify what markings need to be on the forged parts.
Thanks
We are in the process of developing a new product that will have a 2 year warranty. The current design uses a Nitrile o-ring which I don't think is a good choice because the product will be exposed to the weather. The seal is acting more to keep the weather out than anything else so it will not...
Does any one know if there is a difference in the corrosion resistance between 6351-T6 and 6005-T5 Aluminum. This product is used in the transportation industry and will come into some contact with water and salt easpecially during the winter. Thanks for any help.
Yes in a perfect world it should be reference but in the real world I have China building my parts in mm and doing QC in mm because thats the tools they have and I have those parts being checked by my companys QC in English because those are the tools we have. I didn't make the mess I'm just...
I'm wondering how people are dealing with dual dimensioning and the conversion from english units to metric. I have a tolerance that looks something like this;
INCH = .XX ± 0.01
.XXX ± 0.006
MM = .X ± 0.30
.XX ± 0.15
The problem is that things may pass QC in mm from the supplier...
